create with virt-install hangs
Hi
I am just starting with xen and trying to get a few vm''s running on
this pentium 4 system. I tried using virt-install to start things. I
am using this link as the install base:
ftp://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/6/i386/os/ ,
and a local file as hard drive.
What happens is that virt-install downloads the kernel, boots, a VNC
window for the new VM appears, but it

qemu VS tapdisk2 VS blkback benchmarks
Hi all,
as promised I run some simple benchmarks using tapdisk2 and the new qemu
as disk backends.
If you are in a hurry skip to the last section to see the test results.
SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
---------------------
In order to reproduce these results you need to use the new qemu with
linux aio and O_DIRECT as disk backend:
- apply the libxl patches that Anthony sent to the list a little while

Help with booting dom0 on a Dell 2950
Hi, I have installed b_78 on a Dell 2950 and booting to bare metal works fine but when I try to boot using the grub entry Solaris xVM it will boot to the point where it displays the uname info and then just stays there. It will not boot past that point. I have enabled VT technology in the BIOS (but only after the installation).
Where/what can I look at to trouble shoot this? I am new to xen and

Unsupervised RandomForest
Dear all,
I am trying to calculate the proximity matrix for a data set with 16 variables
and 6804 observations using random forests. I have a Pentium 4, 3.00GHz
processor with 1 GB of RAM. When I use the command
randomForest(data.scale,proximity=T)
I get the warning message
Error: cannot allocate vector of size 361675 kb
Is this because I have reached the limit of what my computer is

speex-1.2beta1 AEC garbles up audio unless compiled with --enable-fixed-point
Greetings everyone,
I was about to compare AEC performance between 1.1.12 and 1.2beta1 when
I noticed something.
If I configure (and compile) speex-1.1.12 with
./configure --enable-shared=no --enable-static=yes
it compiles and works as expected: I can run a mic and speaker signal
through testecho, it runs in a reasonable amount of time (about 23 secs
for 3 minutes of audio) and I get back

Performance issue
Hi,
Since few days I noticed very high load on my mailserver (Centos 6.6 64bit, 8 GB RAM, 2 x CPU 3.00GHz
I am using Dovecot + Postfix + Roundcube + Nginx.
I have about 10000 users.
Spool is on network attached storage (Coraid).
File system is ext4 (mounted with noatime).
Problem appears almost every morning (while load is normal during afternoon).
I suspect that this can be related to some

What is normal CPU usage of dovecot imap?
I got Dual Core Intel Xeon CPU 3.00GHz, over 1000 mailbox and almost 1 dovecot login / second (peak time).
Server stats says that load is continually over 2 and cpu usage is 60%. top says that imap is making this load.
virtual users are in mysql database and mysqld is running on another server (this server is ok).
Do I need better CPU or is there something going on that I do not understand?

Error: (12, ''Cannot allocate memory'')
Not sure if this is a Fedora Core 6 issue. I already post a message on
their list but didn''t get an answer. So I am going to try here..
Does anyone has Windows Guest OS running successfully with the Dom0 has all
the physical memory allocated?
If I don''t lower the memory assign to Dom0 through grub, I will not be able
