TCNG issue - parent class restrictions are not honored
...$root=class ( rate 1024Mbps, ceil 1024Mbps ) { // Gigabit ethernet interface $enterprise = class ( rate 45Mbps, ceil 45Mbps ) { // list of enterprise-level clients } $business = class ( rate 20Mbps, ceil 20Mbps ) { // list of business-class clients, including $client1 = class ( rate 2Mbps, ceil 2Mbps ) { sfq; } $client2 = class ( rate 2Mbps, ceil 2Mbps ) { sfq; } } // And so on. } } When this setup was tested, both client 1 and client 2 received 2 Mbps of bandwidth, so the attached filters worked properly. But when the rate and ceil of $business was lowered to 2Mbps, both c...

does the inbound traffic affect the outbound on 2 different interfaces
hey guys i am regulating the traffic to & fro by my network through a linux gateway , its behaving strange. i regulated Downlink to 2Mbps & UPlLINK to 500Kbps. both perform well when those are done independent i.e. one at a time but when i do both from a client system ..the downlink however continues at 2mbps but the uplink falls down to 100kbps? is something wrong with my script or is there some other reason to explain this ??...

GSM v iLBC for low bandwidth connections
Hi All, I've been playing with GSM and iLBC over low bandwidth connections (central Asterisk box with 2mbps, to ADSL users on 512/256) and both seem to perform well. Based upon what I've read in the archives and at voip-info.org iLBC should perform a little better if packets are lost, than compared to GSM. Do you find this to be true in practice, or is GSM just as robust? Whilst I'm asking qu...

asterisk performance
Hi all, We are using - a dell sc440(Single dual-core intel xeon 3040, 1.86GHz,1066MHz front size bus 2MB cache) as the asterisk server - dell 400sc(Intel P4) as a SER server - digium isdn card, TE120P at Asterisk server - Bandwidth: 2Mbps/512kbps All SIP Phones are registered to SER server, and SER will route all outgoing calls to Asterisk server. My problem is the sound quality goes down if more than 3 concurent calls to PSTN. Logically i think our system and bandwidth are more than enough to handle 3 concurent calls, but as the...

Use of qcdisc+htb
...in this list, but describing the scenario will save a lot of messages. Scenario: A building with 17 floors, each floor with 24 offices (totals 408 offices) connected to the backbone through a border switch (1 vlan for each office). The offices can lease bandwidth of 64k, 128k, 256k, 512k, 1M and 2Mbps, according to their needs. We have 3 links to the internet, 2Mbps each. Currently, we use cisco''s bbsm to handle the task of allocating the leased bandwidth for the vlans. Problem: bbsm never performed as expected. It freezes, disconnect users, reboots for itself leaving us in an awkward s...

Optimum Block Size to use
Hi All We use CentOS 6.6 for our application. I have profiled the application and find that we have a heavy requirement in terms of Disk writes. On an average when our application operates at a certain load i can observe that the disk writes / second is around 2 Mbps (Average). The block size set is 4k ******************* [root at localhost ~]# blockdev --getbsz /dev/sda3 4096

Do we need WINS Replication?
We have 2 segments of the corporate network, which are connected by a unstable(~90% uptime) 2Mbps link. This link cannot be made better. So, we are to use 2 WINS servers(both Samba 2.2.8a) - one server in one segment. However, if 2 clients register on 2 different WINS servers, they can't mount network drives of each other. I've tried to use the WINS servers as primary and secondary for...

load balancing between two dsl links
Hi, I am connected to two DSL providers (DSL 1 - 1Mbps downlink/384kbps uplink and DSL 2 - 2Mbps downlink/512kpbs uplink) I would like to only allow ftp, pop3 and http via the DSL 1 and only smtp, ipsec and pptp via DSL 2. How can I do so? Can I use iproute to route these protocols? Below is my ip routing: - # DSL 1 ip route add 2.2.2.208/30 dev eth0 src 2.2.2.210 table 1 ip route add de...

E100P for Bandwidth Termination
Hi, I have a query from a client that can he use the E100P card to terminate the 2Mbps bandwidth in a linux box, thus reducing the cost of cisco router ?? The other end is a cisco 2620 router with E1 VWIC-1MFC. Can anyone explain if its possible with Asterisk and further any configuration help. Applreciated. Help regarding TBF and CBQ
...Solution for our device. It contains one WAN port and a LAN port(4 port switch). The WAN will be connected to an ADSL modem(so we don`t know the bandwidth in advance for the WAN and depends on the ADSL connection taken). We need to give highest priority to the Voice and control the WAN bandwidth to 2Mbps. I tried with the TBF by giving 500kbps for voice and 1.5Mbps for other traffic(I`m assuming that a user takes atmost 2Mbps line). But the maximum throughput i`m getting for the data is 1.15 only. Even if create only one TBF class with full 2 Mbps rate). I need to simulate different WAN bandwidth...

DiffServ Marking
...for traffic policing. As I understand it, the DSCP is marked at the egress interface (parent queue), based on the class that packets are in. I am looking at what happens at an inter-AS boundary. DSCP marked traffic coming into the Edge Router need to be policed and remarked: e.g. EF traffic up to 2Mbps marked as EF EF traffic beyond 2Mbps should be policed and remarked as BE. Is there a way to do this remarking before the traffic is segregated into egress queues? Cheers Andrew _______________________________________________ LARTC mailing list / LARTC@mailman.ds9a.nl http://mailman.ds9a.nl/mail...

IAX2 trunking scalability
Hi List, I have a 2Mbps SDSL link which gets saturated during peak time because about I have about 3 E1 worth of g729 traffic going thru. So I'm planning to use IAX2 trunking to reduce bandwith requirement and squeeze out each and every bit of this (expensive) bandwith. I've set up two boxes (debian etch),...
