Upgrade to 6.3R failed (with freebsd-update.sh)
Dear list,
as described in http://www.freebsd.org/releases/6.3R/announce.html
I tried a binary upgrade to 6.3R. But the command
# sh freebsd-update.sh -f freebsd-update.conf -r 6.3-RELEASE upgrade
failed with

done.
Applying patches... done.
Fetching 1587 files... failed.
Any ideas how to perform the upgrade?
Best regards,
Thomas.

At around line 2590, in function gridRect() in

Bad file modification date/time stamps created from windows clients
I'm running samba server version 3.0.28a on an HP-UX pa-risc machine
with XP-pro windows clients.
When a windows client creates a new file on the samba share the
modification time is not set correctly.
On the HP-UX side date/time stamp shows as:
% ls -l README
-rwxr--r-- 1 e6b564 users 1081 Dec 13 1901 README
The date/time stamp is always "Dec 13 1901" ?

Still a bug with NA in sd() or var()?
...a simple NA, but var(x) requires some additional work? There was
some previous discussion in r-help about this for R v 1.6.0, with
mention of a fix for 1.6.1.

[LLVMdev] Slow jitter.
...t path.
>From a bytecode file that disassembles into a 240K lines LLVM assembly
file, -fast-isel-verbose outputs ~7600 missed instructions.
There are lots of loads/stores of boolean values (i1), bitcasts and
calls.
store i1 : 1802 occurrences (23%)
load i1* : 1076 occurrences (13%)
call : 2590 occurrences (34%)
bitcast : 1848 occurrences (24%)
Almost all the calls have void return value and use the sret attribute.
I can send the bytecode file to anyone interested.

Too many smbd processes?
Hello People,
/etc/rc.d/init.d/smb status yields the following output:
smbd (pid 31224 31209 31102 31098 31077 31069 31056 3237 3171 3154 3147

is running...
nmbd (pid 31062 31061) is running...
In total 25 smbd's and 2 nmbd's, while only five or six users actually
use the samba-server.
This many processes causes my system to have a load around 19 to 25,
which prevent
my sendmail from sending mail.

Re: samba Digest, Vol 56, Issue 2

S-1-5-21-3574958883-2392404172-2943802112-2590 to uid or gid.
whereby RID=2590 translates to UID=795, a well-known
user in our domain S-1-5-21-3574958883-2392404172-2943802112.
Is it OK to set the local SID to the same value as
the domain SID, as the quoted posting seems to imply?
