12 seat call centre with Asterisk, VoIP only, UK - possible?
...tre, mostly outbound calls. I get the impression they are mainly calling 3G mobile phones, monthly phone bill, with calls is approx ?5,000 for several feature lines. How feasible is something like this with asterisk? I guess one big question is which type of circuit to use, ADSL in the UK is only 256kbs upstream, some providers do bonding but I'm not sure its supported fully by BT :( The other option is SDSL which is not too cheap! Then there is the choice of a reliable SIP provider. Do others doing this have accounts with 2 or 3 providers as fallback? Thanks for any comments. Mike

.... When it's all wired (speaker wire, RCA, digital) there is no (apparent) latency. If you are playing the same stream on two different computers, even in your ethernet wired home network, they won't be totally sync'd up. Latency on a wireless network is even more apparent. Of course 256Kbs is pretty fast and I haven't tried doing it with this speed, so the clients may stay "together" for longer, but there is no garuantee they will stay in sync for any amount of time. Of course, none of this matters if the rooms are far enough apart and you aren't worried about hear...

Icecast2 Station with multiple scheduled DJs?
...s, i just had things setup this way and did not want to move them around just for this test this solution is re encoding the mp3 stream, which is a loss of quality ******************************************************************* it looks like my best option might be to have the DJs broadcast in 256kbs mount points that are hidden, and use liquidsoap to rebroadcast it to the live stream in 128kbs mp3. I can then control liquidsoap via an external programmatic interface which allows me to switch from DJ to DJ based on a timer, or to manually switch to a different show outside of the timer. I just...

Vorbis/Lame
Hi, I think that it would be a good thing to know more about those 2 projects (and also the future patent free format). I think that many people as me know about Lame, but not about Vorbis, and vice-versa. It would be fine that someone (perhaps the maintainer) of every project would introduce to both group of people those projects. 2 things would be interesting (to my mind): - to know about the

Of course, I'm assuming this is what Geoff meant. I've had to rate limit some file transfers to prevent interference with the voice channels. Your experience will depend on how much the web and jabber servers are used. /ed -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-boun...
