Samba46 Listen queue overflow in FreeBSD 11.1

soft lockups during live migrate..
Trying to migrate a 64bit PV guest with 64GB running medium to heavy load on xen 3.4.0, it is showing lot of soft lockups. The softlockups are causing dom0 reboot by the cluster FS. The hardware has 256GB and 32 CPUs. Looking into the hypervisor thru kdb, I see one cpu in sh_resync_all() while all other 31 appear spinning on the shadow_lock. I vaguely remember seeing some thread on this while ago, but just can''t seem to google find it now. I''m trying to figure what could be done i...

does sharing an SSD as slog and l2arc reduces its life span?
Hi, I don''t know if it''s already been discussed here, but while thinking about using the OCZ Vertex 2 Pro SSD (which according to spec page has supercaps built in) as a shared slog and L2ARC device it stroke me that this might not be a such a good idea. Because this SSD is MLC based, write cycles are an issue here, though I can''t find any number in their spec. Why do I

C8 network install
I'm building a new storage server. I was unable to use the CentOS-8- x86_64-1905-dvd1.iso image written to a 256GB thumb drive. It kept failing the integrity check. I had to use the much smaller CentOS-8- x86_64-1905-boot.iso image and do a network install from a mirror site. That's a first for me. Even though I selected "Server with GUI", the resulting installation boots to a text prompt. I'...

Xen 64 but supported memory limit
Hello, We are looking to use Xen as our hypervisor. However, after doing some research it''s still not clear as to the amount of memory Xen 64bit can support? The highest I''ve found is 4TB of physical memory. For the host VM''s, I''ve found several statements that indicated that the max per VM was 32GB. Are these numbers accurate? And can these limits be removed

Bug#657014: Wheezy, Squeeze and Ubuntu server 11.10 has missing boot option to Xen
...reboot. After several days of troubleshooting it turns out that adding dom0_mem option (e.g. dom0_mem=8192M) to the multiboot line of /etc/grub.d/20_linux_xen FIXES THE PROBLEM ! maybe this has to be fixed in the package? (I havent tried this out on other hardware, only on the Dell R810 with 256GB RAM and four eight-core processors) kind regards, /Erik

RHEL 5.2 Xen Kernel doesn''t detect all amount of physical memory
Hello All, Does anyone know what is the current status of RHEL 5.2 x86_64 with respect to the maximum amount of RAM detected by the Xen 64 bit kernel (the one that shipped with Red Hat distribution ) In the following link https://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/RHEL-5-manual/en-US/RHEL510/Virtualization_Guide/ch-virt-hw-support.html it states that 32GB of RAM is the maximum amount of

CR getting 7.2 packages......
...he right. The good side is that nothing major seems to have broken. Update for me was 1,260+ packages totaling about 1.3GB and taking a grand total of about 25 minutes, start to finish (prior to the reboot). Hardware is a Dell Precision M6500 Core i7 740QM with 20GB of RAM, all but /home on a 256GB SSD with /home on an HGST 1TB HDD. Kudos to the build team for the quick turnaround, and for the CR repo.

...prefetch and metadata we are getting around 5 - 10 % on data, 50 - 70 % on prefetch and 0% on metadata. I am thinking that the majority of the prefetch misses are due to the tablespace data files. multiple messages per second to a single mailbox
...m 4-7 messages per second delivered to this single mailbox. I would like to increase that rate a lot. These machines are VMs hosted on Xenserver 6.x. I have them setup with 8 vCPUs (2 sockets with 4 cores per socket), the dom0 machines have dual HBA connectors back to a SAN and have 128 CPUs and 256GB of RAM and are not taxed. I added a 2nd virtual disk that is used for storing mailbox data. It is ext4 and has noatime set during mount. /var is also mounted with noatime. The performance graphs in XenCenter show nearly all 8 vCPUs at about 50%, and the writes on the mailbox data disk are about...

gencache.tdb size and cache flush
Hi all, I have a midsize AD domain with some 50k users but only 100 workstations joined. Sometimes I find server CPU throttling at 100%. In order to let it drop and have smooth performance I delete cache: systemctl stop samba net cache flush systemctl start samba First of all, is it needed a samba stop to flush the cache? Even if cache flush does the job to restore performance, I am clueless

"wbinfo -u" considered harmful towards Winbindd...
...of a systems monitoring script we ran that once a minute (now disabled) in order to see if all AD users were detected, but somehow that seems to fail sometime and also cause the Winbindd daemon to grow around 455MB per hour… the memory used is not a huge problem on the production servers (they have 256GB RAM) so we didn’t notice this at first (since we restart smbd&winbindd every morning at 7am) - but an old test server with much less RAM ran out of memory around 4:30am… :-) This is what the process growth look like with a cron job running “wbinfo -u” once a minute: > 10:50/ps-auxwww.log:r...
