2460x1440 video card recommendation
Can someone recommend a video card that's capable of driving a monitor at 2560x1600 or 2560x1440 and just works with Centos 7 without requiring any outside video drivers?
I would prefer to stay with the built-in video drivers that are included with Centos 7 if possible; I don't play games and such, so I'm not looking for high performance 3D -- I just want a high resolutio...

Video resolution for CentOS guest
...ate an xorg.conf file,
but no mention of what to put in it. I can run "Xorg -configure",
but the resulting file contains nothing about video modes, so it's
not apparent what needs to be added.
I find it particularly annoying that a Windows 7 guest can set any
resolution I want up to 2560x1600, but a Linux guest can't go higher
than 1024x768.

Fedora 14 --> strange graphics issues.
I just upgraded from Fedora 11 to Fedora 14, and now I'm getting strange problems with graphics in multiple games that make me wonder if something is fundamentally broken:
1) I run world of warcraft full-screen at 2560x1600. Everything works fine, frame rate is high, etc. Then I switch workspaces and switch back, and now only the center 2048x1280 (estimated) is displayed, and my desktop is visible (and can be interacted with past the edge of that 2048x1280 window). The game thinks it's still running at 2560x1600....

those numbers seem wrong to me. nothing I've ever seen uses 17hz or
33hz refresh, its all pretty much 60Hz in LCD flat panel land.
single link DVI goes up to 1920x1200 in practice, and dual link up to
2560x1600. so-called '4K', really 3840x2160, requires DisplayPort, or
HDMI 2.0 (1.4 supports 4K at 30Hz only).
there's actually something like 5 possible DVI combinations. DVI-D is
digital only (no analog/VGA output). DVI-A is analog only (really just
VGA with a different connector, I'...

[Bug 35049] New: Cannot use higher resolutions of monitor
...an install to sid, upgraded to experimental to get xorg
1.9.99.903 (1.10.0 RC 3) then followed the instructions on the nouveau wiki
(http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/DebianInstall) to build a new kernel and
drivers. This was successful. The problem is that I have a monitor which
supports up to 2560x1600 (which the monitor reports by EDID) but the drivers
will only run at 1280x800. If I use xrandr to resize, I get a desktop that is
compressed to be equivalent to the larger size, but is actually 1280x800. I
have tried adding a virtual line to my monitor section and setting the
preferredmode. Thes...

I played with this and found that, in fact, I had to switch the spice
/ qxl. With that change, I had no trouble pushing EL6 to much higher
resolutions.

virsh & vmxnet3 (VMware) VM
Hi,
I try to install a VMware VM via virsh with a vmxnet3 network card.
Virsh sends me an error :
"Insufficient video RAM. The maximum resolution of the virtual machine will be limited to 1176x885. To use the configured maximum resolution of 2560x1600, increase the amount of video RAM allocated to this virtual machine by setting svga.vramSize="16384000" in the virtual machine's configuration file."
If I edit the VM settings (via vsphere) and set the Video card memory size to "Auto-dectect video setting" I get the...

I think I may have updated the tv firmware between when it worked and
when it didn't.
I wonder it it has to do with bit depth.
I use lubuntu and it doesn't let me pick the bit depth so I don't know
what it using.

I'm waiting to see if my current monitor actually dies. It's an Asus 1920x1200 monitor that I like rather a lot, but it occasionally acts a bit flaky when coming back out of sleep mode. (The screen fills with a white
