Please Recommend Affordable and Reliable Cloud Storage for 50 TB of Data
Hi,
Could you recommend affordable and reliable cloud storage for 50 TB of data?
Here are some important factors to consider:
1. Personal/non-commercial use.
2. Must be affordable, since I am unemployed most of the time and have
super low levels of income for the past 12 years since I graduated
from the National University of Singapore in 2007.
3. Cloud storage provider must not be a

Keyboards
On my new Dell system, it's got a cardreader. More to the point, it's got
an idiot menu key... *right* next to the right control key, and just where
the annoying keyboard design has it cut down from the oversize space bar

[HW] Do the HDD cages in rack mount chassis indicate visual/audio HDD failure?
I have no personal experience with rack mount chassis.
>From the past postings, I reckon there are members, in this list, who
have experience in rack mount setups and would like get their advice.
To reduce the H/W cost, I am considering Linux mdadm RAID10 on a 2U chassis.
I would appreciate clarification on the following:
In rack mount chassis, do the cages that house the
hard disks have

cron.hourly runs twice
For some reason I cannot fathom,
cron.hourly runs twice each hour
on one of my two CentOS-5.4 systems,
as reported in /var/log/cron:
-------------------------
Mar 16 14:01:01 helen crond[27833]: (root) CMD (run-parts /etc/cron.hourly)
Mar 16 14:01:01 helen crond[27834]: (root) CMD (run-parts /etc/cron.hourly)
-------------------------
On the other it just runs once, as expected.

HDD Problem....
Ok so I have a 500GB WD "Blue Scorpion" HDD that I'm trying to access via
USB, when I boot up my CentOS laptop the lights on the external USB casing
light up...and I can hear the drive making noise, but after a few minutes I
hear an abrupt "click" and the drive doesn't do anything. I can SEE it in
the Disk Utility in CentOS,...I even tried to format it from there as

SSD for Centos SWAP /tmp & /var/ partition
Has anyone actually used a SSD in a Centos setup?
My little experiment with a s/h WD drive for /tmp and SWAP
partitions kicked the bucket on Wednesday, when the poor WD
drive caught the click-of-death. It was a s/h drive
to start with and lasted about 4 months. But that was
without the /var/log/ partition being written to it, as I
mounted that back onto /var/log from the original drive.

Raspberry PI 3
Hi all
I downloaded the RPI3 image:
CentOS-Userland-7-armv7hl-Minimal-1603-RaspberryPi3.img.xz
how do I resize the root FS? My Sd card is 32G and I am only using 2G of
that.
also I thought the RPI3 as was 64 bit. When I downloaded the
aarch64.img and tried that it did not boot.
I thought the RPI3 supported this image. perhaps not.

CentOS 6 supported hardware
Has anyone seen a supported hardware list on CentOS 6? I've been looking
around for the last few days; even looked at RedHat's site but didn't
find one.
I've got a Dell Inspiron 1501 with a Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN mini-card
in it and I'm trying to find out if it's going to have native driver
support for the WIFI.
thanks,

Remote backup of server
Hello,
I want mount directory of one server to another over internet. I was
looking to NFS4, but there are no security mechanisms. I need
encrypted connection using private key (something like SFTP).
Or - if there is in CentOS repo (or EPEL) package, that can mount
directory over internet using private key and make differential backup
(like rdiff-backup).
Thank you very much for links or other

CentOS-6.5 LiveDVD problem
I downloaded the Live DVD for CentOS-6.5 and burned a DVD-R using a CentOS-6.5
desktop. To test the validity of the new DVD I then rebooted the same desktop
using the same Live DVD. No matter which Live DVD boot option I choose I see
this after the splash screen completes the Circle (sounds like a good title
for a novel).
