ZFS write time performance question
...le system and an array support module (ASM) module was installed for the RAID on the VxFS test case. Test Case: Run ''iostat'', then write a 1GB file using ''mkfile 1g testfile'' and then run iostat again. ZFS Test Results: The KB written per second averaged around 250KB. VxFS Test Results: The KB written per second averaged around 70KB. When I fixed the ZFS record size to 8KB the KB written per second averaged 110KB. My questions by be too general to answer here but I thought I would try. Why does ZFS write more traffic to disk then VxFS? Why does ZFS write mo...

checkpassword memory limit
...to authenticate some other services too), and when I run them "by hand" (even with "sudo -u dovecot ..."), it works. But, when the dovecot runs them, the php runs out of memory. After a lot of debuging, I find out that when the dovecot starts the checkpassword script, it makes a 250kB memory limit. But it is not enough for the php script, it needs 14MB. I tried to put a "ulimit -v 16777216" into the checkpassword.sh, but it doesn't work.Is there some hardcoded limit in the dovecot itself? And if there is, could it be somehow changed?I am using a simple D ebian...

Opus implementation on Nordic chip
...). Which one is suitable for a “simple” encode\decode application for an MCU? How can I compile the library on Windows 10 (using MinGW)? What is the minimum code size (or an easily reachable minimum size) for an opus implementation?, The absolute maximum available space per chip would probably be 250kB. Thanks! ...n NE2000, but who cares :-) Hmmm, I hadn't had any problem's w/ my FreeBSD 2.2.2-RELEASE Samba, running on 100Mhz pentium, EZ2000 nic's thru xover cable to NT4SP3, also EZ2000 - copying a 7.4Mb .gz file from FreeBSD share to NT, using dos box 'copy' takes 30 seconds ( 15mb/min, 250Kb/sec) timed w/ stopwatch. Using smbclient to copy back to FreeBSD got 814Kb/sec (48 Mb/min) as reported by smbclient. --------------------------------- Why did the chicken cross the road? bandwidth limiting - vif "rate" option
Hello everybody, i have found, that i can limit the OUTGOING bandwidth with the option "rate=" (e.g. rate=250KB/s) at the vif line in my sxp-file. I have tested it, it is working good, but why it is "only" limiting the outgoing bandwidth ? Is there any easy way to limit the incoming bandwidth too, something like the obove option ? My network setup is bridged. Thank you in advance! Greetings, E...

LLD bug causing objcopy ELF to binary generation to create large binaries
...e ELF output from LLD also "large", or is it just the output from the llvm-objcopy operating on that ELF that is "large"? Do you have a simple sample to demonstrate this issue?" The ELF size is actually smaller, compared to what was generated from LLVM 7.x. (~900Kb vs ~250Kb) When we run llvm-objcopy -O Binary blah.elf blah.bin, it would generate a 400Mb binary file. I presume the `noload` flag used in `InputSection` is not properly enforced throughout the code. CommitSection is not applied to .heap and .stack section as I can recall during my debug.... .stack...

Raid 1 - further
Managed to get RAID 1 working but the sync process claimed it was going to take a serious amount of time. Looking at the stats revealed that the sync operation was running at a max of 250kB/sec which seems chronically low. Basic drive performance (hdparm) tests seemed OK so I guess the controller's not up to it? The info that came with the controller was all-but-non-existent but during a reboot I noticed that it flashed up a 'press CTRL-S to enter RAID setup' for about...

I have now had time to go back to the machine and start again: I now have one 300GB SATA drive on the motherboard controller and one on the PCI card and they're currently re-syncing at 48445K/Sec and will be done in 90 mins - a big improvement on 250kB/sec!!! MySQL problem when using Dovecot as proxy
...arly writes DOMAIN\username so its some kind of translation between dovecot and MYSQL. Any suggestions. I another solution would be to allow all users instead of having to create them in the MySQL table. Is this possible ? /Christian P.S Before Dovecot some Outlook users could only download max. 250kB through POP3 - now with Dovecot there is NO LIMIT! :)

Do I need to store voicemail locally?
I'm trying to setup Asterisk on my Linksys WRT54G router but it only has 4MB of storage (and only about 250KB free with OpenWRT linux installed). I'd like to setup voicemail, but I'm afraid I don't have enough storage on my router. Can I somehow store this on my VOIP provider? (eg. BroadVoice) I was also thinking about mounting an NFS partition to store the voicemail, but then I'd be dep...

Samba 3.0.4 Performance Problem (tcp win 1)
...Fedora Core 1 machine with Windows clients. The samba server is communicating with a Windows 98 machine. $ /usr/sbin/smbd -V Version 3.0.4-1.FC1 The configuration of my server is mostly default with the exception of print, passwords, and share configurations. My Linux interface is seeing about 250KB/s traffic from the Windows client. However, it takes several seconds to transfer 100KB of data. Which version shall i choose ?
...to upgrade due to (expected) performance problems (tftp), so I > will swich to HTTP boot ! Primary performance issue with TFTP is many PXE systems top out around 1 MB/s, even on Gigabit and 1 switch. Add additional switches, especially a layer 3 routing device, and it's even slower (easily 250kB/s or as low as 100kB/s). Can you deal with a client taking 1-4 minutes to just fetch files? If not, you will have a performance issue. > existing system: > - syslinux version 4.05 (tftp only) > - used modules : pxelinux.0, memdisk, vesamenuc32, patched startrom.0 Where does startrom.0...
