rsync very slow with large include/exclude file list
...p's. That's 22 BILLION comparisons. (I may have left off a zero
there, it might be 220 B).
I'm working on a fix to improve this. The first phase was to just improve
the existing code without changing the methodology.
The set I've been testing with is local-local machine, dry-run, 216K files
in the source directory, 25,000 files in the exclude-from list.
The original rsync takes 488 seconds.
The improved code takes 300 seconds.
The next phase was to improve the algorithm of handling large
filter_lists. Change the unsorted linear search to a sorted binary search
(skiplist).

Kernel panic - not syncing
Hi folks,
syslinux-3.11
squashfs2.2-r2
Just join this list.
I have built a LFS LiveCD on BLSF 6.1 and burned on CD-RW. On booting
following warning popup;

VFS : Mounted root (ext2 filesystem readonly)
Freeing unused kernel memory : 216K freed
Warning unable to open an initial console
Kernel panic - not syncing : No init found
Trying passing init = option to kernel
(It hung here)
I have been searching around for solution with result.

Hello rsync users,
I'm trying to copy every file which belongs to my Ubuntu 23.04 installation

XEN 3.1: critical bug: vif init failure after creating 15-17 VMs (XENBUS: Timeout connecting to device: device/vif)
We have found a critical problem with the XEN 3.1 release (for those who are running 15-20 VMs on a single server). We are using the official XEN 3.1 release on a rackable server (Dual-Core AMD Opteron, 8GB RAM).
The problem we are seeing is that intermittently vifs fail to work properly in VMs after we create around 15-17 VMs on our server (all running at the same time, created one by

Slow concurrent actions on the same LVM logical volume
Hi 2 all !
I have problems with concurrent filesystem actions on a ocfs2
filesystem which is mounted by 2 nodes. OS=RH5ES and OCFS2=1.2.6
F.e.: If I have a LV called testlv which is mounted on /mnt on both
servers and I do a "dd if=/dev/zero of=/mnt/test.a bs=1024
count=1000000" on server 1 and do at the same time a du -hs
/mnt/test.a it takes about 5 seconds for du -hs to execute:
