Problem installing Centos on laptop
...ig ram 120Gig HD. I have tried the 64bit and the 32 bit versions but have the same problem with both of them. I can do the complete install but when the computer reboot it will hang on the hardware detection on the network right after where it says Centos 4.4 final. I have let it sit for about 20min and it won't pass that point. I have also tried Fedora code 5 with the same results. Ubuntu 6.06.1 64 bit installs and works fine but will lock up randomly and requires a hard reboot. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them. Thanks Scandog -------------- next part -----...

icecast source-buffer
hi, I'm running an live 128kbit mp3-upstream (icecast v 2.2.0 on freebsd) from a site where the internet-connection is rather bad and drops every ~20min for few seconds (I'm using streamtranscoder by the way). my question is if there's any parameter to increase the buffer of the upstreaming-source. the config-file of icecast offers <queue-size>, but this seems to affect only the listeners, not the sources, right? thx for any help, m...

Time conversion problems
Hi there I have precipitation data from 2004 to 2006 in varying resolutions (10 to 20min intervals) with time in seconds from beginnig of the year (summation) and a second variable as year. I applied follwing code to convert the time into a date: times<-strptime("2004-01-01", "%Y-%m-%d", tz="GMT") + precipitation$time1 everytihng went well, except th...

trend test for frequencies
Hi, which test do I have to use if I want to test if the following data follow a monotone trend; 0min 5min 10min 20min 30min 5 20 55 70 90 ... where the dependent variable contains frequencies. And how is that implemented in R? thanks for any help (on this more statistical-question ...).

Problems with encodeing
Hello all, i've been haveing problems with oggenc on windows 2k. When i encode WAV files sometimes it started to choke, just oggenc, not the os. It startes freezeing for seconds and then every so often goes up by .10 % or something... the project time remaining is something like 20min at 3% for a 3 min wav. I've been useing it for a while and it only just started, before this it was working fine. I'm useing EAC and oggenc 1.0 at qual 6. Its not the wav file, and rebooting only fixes it for a short time. Does ayone have any clue what this is and how to fix it? thx ch...

pretty eerie feeling: Google "down", Twitter "down", R sites up
...Zurich, but I haven't seen this before in many years: for > 15 minutes now, for me and at least someone else here, - Google (incl. Gmail, calendar..) is entirely unreachable - Twitter is "connecting" and is not reached (in the browser), - three major Swiss news(paper) websites (20min, TA, NZZ) are out of reach, but "of course" the ETH web sites are fine for me (but I'm inside ETH) and notably, www.r-project.org , bugs.r-project.org, cran.r-project.org developer.r-project.org svn.r-project.org are all fine and up... an eerie feeling indeed. (newbie alert) - home DV video and Premiere?
...or both video and audio? Q4) www.vorbis.com seems to be broken... but ogg.org / xiph.org are working <p><p>Here's the story: I recently got a miniDV cam-corder, and a WinXP laptop that came with firewire and a copy of Adobe Premiere LE 6. I'm interested in putting about 1hr 20min of home-video onto a CD-R, to share with friends. Of course, I want maximum quality possible that will still fit into 700MB. Also it must be easily playable (like, maybe I include codecs on the CD too). <p>I'm currently leaning toward DivX 4 codec for the video, but haven't yet figu...

Kernel oops when running bonnie++ on btrfs
...how btrfs compares to other filesystems so I have been running bonnie++ on it. While the results are good(much faster then ext2) every once in awhile I get a kernel oops. I am testing on xubuntu 8.10 with the 2.6.27-7-686 kernel using the latest git sources. Most of the time the oops happens within 20min of running bonnie++ but sometimes it takes a few hours. This happens with and without compression. To reproduce this bug you can run while true; do bonnie++ -s 5120 -n 4:524288:0:512; done Nov 12 22:39:12 Intrepid-btrfs kernel: [ 2531.781731] allocation failed flags 1, wanted 4096^M Nov 12 22:39...

Re: kvm/libvirt on CentOS7 w/Windows 10 Pro guest
...er the system got all sloggy slow so I logged in via RDP and asked Windows to reboot. It was taking forever for RDC to come back, so I logged into the system and brought up KVM GUI which displayed Windows showing the login backdrop with "Restarting..." and the spinning dots. After about 20min, I gave up and clicked the hardware reset. Now the system is broken with the "Starting automatic repair" and that it can't fix the PC and throws me into the Auto-Repair advanced options. Thoughts? Thanks,   -Ben p.s. this is LibVirt 3.2.0-14.el7_4.7

Short burst of static then disconnect
I've got a box running CVS-HEAD-02/18/05-02:27:22 with a digium single span T100P card. With increasing regularity we get inbound calls that will work fine for an arbitrary ammount of time (some calls last over 20min before the problem) then they are interupted by a short burst of static and then the line drops. On the console I see: == Spawn extension (did, 7214, 2) exited non-zero on 'Zap/24-1' -- Hungup 'Zap/24-1' which is the normal behavior for a correctly terminated call. Any...

smb client support in midnight commander
...y change I had to make to samba source is dbf = stderr in setup_logging() in lib/debug.c so i could redirect messages to a fifo to view them on another terminal. Of particular difficulty is: since i cant send cli_chkpath when idle to keep connection alive, NT server times out & closes in 15-20min. So I have to catch the EPIPE myself to know when i need to close & reconnect. cli_reestablish_connect() in libsmb/clientgen.c is disfunctional. I seem to have it reconnecting fine in this situation. Additional functionality that should be added to midnight commander to better support smb...
