Uidnumbers strange behaviour on DC
...ut
since I'm running out of ideas.
Short story:
UidNumbers on a DC have a strange behaviour
Longer Story:
1) Self compiled samba ad-dc now on V4.8.5 (recently and painlessly
upgraded from 4.6.14) +bind9 +dhcp on debian stretch mostly managed through
RSAT
2) 2 DC's + 3 linux (debian/ubuntu) +20ish win10 clients configured
according to (a hopefully correct) extensive reading of the wiki
3) One of the DC's is a file server (yeah... I know...; working on solving
this soon and actually this is why I noticed this issue)
4) The issue:
4a) On DC1: wbinfo --user-info=cmachado

Advice on TC/Iptables Configurations
Hi Everyone,
First post to the list - hope I have hit the right list for all of the
questions below!
I have several queries over the "front end" infrastructure of a vast data
center infrastructure we are planning, connecting 20ish services to the BGP
Routed infrastructure being provided by our datacenter provider. There are
around 10-30 thousand end users of these services, and I have 100M total
bandwidth across the two connections (I can weight the traffic down them as
I choose).
The setup looks a little like this:

[Bug 1382] New: scp/sftp sometimes hangs as a ControlMaster slave

ReportedBy: mzwcp6002 at sneakemail.com
This can be reproduced with the attached Perl script, which sets up a
ControlMaster master and repeatedly copies the file 'foo' from some
remote location. On MacOS X (Intel), it hangs at some number of
iterations, sometimes 20ish, 40ish, 150, etc. The script only tests
scp, but I remember having similar issues with sftp before.
Some extra background on this bug: the version control system darcs
uses the ControlMaster feature because operations like committing
patches or retrieving them from a remote repository requires se...

R Founding
A few days ago Tal Galili posted a message about some controversies
concerning the future of R. Having read the discussions, especially those
following Ross Ihaka's post, I have come to the conclusion, that, as usual,
the problem is money. I doubt there would be discussions about dropping R in
its present form if the R-Foundation were properly funded and could hire
computer scientists,

Help understanding some benchmark results
G''day, all,
So, I''ve decided to migrate my home server from Linux+swRAID+LVM to Solaris+ZFS, because it seems to hold much better promise for data integrity, which is my primary concern.
However, naturally, I decided to do some benchmarks in the process, and I don''t understand why the results are what they are. I though I had a reasonable understanding of ZFS, but now
