Performance of the acoustic echo canceller
...est wtih my recording file offline through the testecho. I got the same result(no prepocessor echo suppression) as my recording file for that live call. Basically I don't see the difference between input_frame and output_frame. As I mentioned in my original post, the echo return loss is about 20db. I guess the echo cancelleris not really actively cancelling the echo in such condition? But without the echo sppression/NLP, echo is still noticable. I used the same onboard sound card for the speaker and microphone. As far as I can tell, the delay between echo_frame and input_frame is consiste...

Performance of the acoustic echo canceller
...1 codec, frame_size 80 and both 1024 and 2048 tail length. The code was compiled as floating point and fixed point in the PC. But noneof them help. I made sure the the synchronization between echo_frame and input_frame was stable and the delay is consistant about 10ms. The echo return lossis around 20db but output_frame and input_frame signal is about the same. I even tried Jean-Marc's latest mdf.c from the subversion but no luck. Has anyone test the performance in any other softphones and how well does it work? I have the recording files, anyone would be interesting in taking a look? I won...

A-law distortion
Hi,
I set "alaw = 1-7" in /etc/zaptel.conf hoping to make my zap channels
the same as the PSTN. This caused the levels to be about 20dB too high,
as well as being distorted. I adjusted the txgain and rxgain settings in
/etc/asterisk/zapata.conf to sane levels, but now I still have rather
distorted zap extension -> zap extension sound quality.
What am I missing here ?
zap 1-4 are phone extensions, and zap 5-7 are telco lines. A...

mixing N sounds together...
I have a simple question:
I want to mix N samples of 20ms into one sample of 20ms...is the
algorithm above exact? :
short inputsamples[160][N];
short outputsample[160];
int i,j;
for(i=0;i<160;++i){
outputsample[i] = 0;
for(j=0;j<N;++j){
outputsample[i] += inputsample[i][j];
}
outputsample[i] /= N;
}

icecast sound compressor
Hi,
I searched the Internet to find an answers, but I didn't find anything
useful, so I'm turning to you, maybe someone has the answer.
I want to make a realtime broadcast from a Linux box. The source is the
soundcard's line-in, and it sends the stream to an Icecast server.
I would like to have realtime compressor/limiter functionalities on this
Linux box, so the outgoing signal
