G729a Pass-Through and Recording/Monitoring
Hello,
I am wondering about the ability of a server that is simply passing G729
through it to have the ability to record the calls. I know for
voicemail, meetme, and things like that to work, a G729 license must be
installed on the machine since there is transcoding going on.
Is this also true for recording of calls? Will I require licensing for
each recorded call? Will the server see a

Mongrel HTTP Library 0.2.2 (Serving Directories)
Hey Folks,
Another announcement of Mongrel -- the fastest little web server
library for Ruby yet. This release is nice in that it should build
on win32 better and it now sports a small DirHandler that can serve
directories and files. This means Mongrel is closer to replacing
WEBrick as a Rails debug runner.
You can get the releases and information from:

modifying scaffold method
I''ve made the following changes to scaffolding.rb. Is it possible to
put those changes into some type of a plugin or helper or something,
instead of directly modifying the Rails source?
(and, btw, I think pagination should be removed from scaffolding. And
deletes should only happen on post requests. That''s essentially what
I''ve changed).
Thanks,
Joe

Rolling with Ruby on *Instant* Rails - "New" Tutorial
Greetings!
The original version of this tutorial was written by Curt Hibbs and published on ONLamp.com. It served as my introduction to both Ruby and Rails. Unfortunately, I experienced some frustration working through it. This was due first to the fact that I was using Instant Rails, not Rails, and second, to the fact that Rails itself has grown since Curt wrote the article. Despite my

Rendering objects
So, Ruby is OO all the way, but in Rails we can?t render an object?
Having retyped way too many calls to ActionViews render method with
various options, I finally figured, why not make it possible to actually
render customized objects, which could encapsulate the often messy code,
that I often ended up writing partly in the controller and partly in the
view - using instance variables, and

ignore pattern for ddclient
Hi all,
I use logcheck and ddclient, and I think that it would be usefull to
add an ignore pattern for ddclient:
^\w{3} [ :0-9]{11} [._[:alnum:]-]+ ddclient[[0-9]+]:
SUCCESS: updating [._[:alnum:]-]+: good: IP address set to [.#[:digit:]]+
The original messages are like this:
Jan 18 10:26:40 casaserv ddclient[4397]: SUCCESS: updating
myserver.mine.nu: good: IP address set to 12.345.67.89

configuring lda
after coping lda stanza into the config file, I get "unknown protocol name"
error. adding lda to the list of protocols doesn't seem to do the trick.
lda was built during compile and the binary is present, piping into it
manually spits error messages about missing config, so how do I go about
the problem above ?
It is my undertanding that using dovecot-lda would help maintain the

Samba 4
Hey Guys,
I know it's only TP1 and maybe? this isn't the best place to ask but where
do I start?
I've download the debian experimental Samba 4 TP1 package and installed it.
The debian installer did the provisioning and I've set up dns. I set up a
share and it all seems to work fine with the built-in administrator account.
But what now? how do I join computers to the domaind? Do
