scsi tape device support
...Do you know if the generic kernel (2.6.9-22.0.1.ELsmp) supports this tape
device? Can anyone give me any pointers in getting this device working.
Regards,
Marc

More floating point errors
Hi!
It seems that using a different compiler (I assume the
development is done with MSC) uncovers various issues
with the floating point.
Here is the second one I'm seeing - DOMAIN error from
sqrt().
In the open_loop_nbest_pitch(), this line:
g = DIV32(corr[i-start],
10+SHR32(MULT16_16(spx_sqrt(e0),spx_sqrt(energy[i-start])
),6));
The values are:
e0 is 7.2
i is 142,
start is 17

Huge OO.org packages installed by default
I was just wondering if anyone here knows why the OO.org packages on
RHEL/Centos are so huge.
Eg. On Mandriva 2006:
40834529 OpenOffice.org
113064600 OpenOffice.org-libs
20124669 OpenOffice.org-help-en
19976941 OpenOffice.org-l10n-en
= ~185MB
On Centos 4:
683298379 openoffice.org-i18n
124072694 openoffice.org
111894560 openoffice.org-libs
= ~876MB!!
When I say 'installed by default' I

compaq r4000 32 bit and 64 bit install
Gents,
I first installed the 32 bit version (as you might have read) of centos 4.2,
after downloading x86_64 the install process/progress is about the same.
going VERY slow...
The screen for formatting the partitions took a LONG time
(3 partitions 10 GIG, 2 GIG swap and 50 GIG).
While on that screen and moving the mouse it lagged big time and
could not keep up.
Anyway just reporting that so far

compaq r4000 /proc/cpuinfo reports 997 and should be 2400
Hi
I have a compaq R4000 with the 2.4GIG AMD 64 bit. 4000+ rated.
proc cpuinfo reports
cpu Mhz as 997.481
Do I have to run the 64 bit version to have things run correctly?
I just have the normal 4.2 loaded at this time.
The laptop seems slow for 4000+ as reflected by the cpu Mhz also.
Any thoughts on running the 32 bit version of 4.2 vs the 64 bit version
of 4.2?

Atlantis-Land UPS with Cypress CY7C63723 chip (cypress_m8 driver) support
Hello everybody!
I am trying to get an Atlantis-Land OnePower Line Interactive S1501
UPS (actually it is made by Ablerex) to talt to my Linux box through its
USB port (no more RS-232...), either using the supplied program
(UPSilon2000, works under Win and Linux) or whatever else.
The UPSilon2000 program apparently works OK *if* it can talk to the
UPS via a serial port; since my UPS has
