Openwebmail dependency problem
Ok, I have to ask. I tried to yum install the latest openwebmail (from the openwebmail repo), and got a transaction check error about a conflict with some packages which are needed by amavisd and spamassassin (packages originating from rpmforge, I think). Below is the yum output. By googling I found a lot of descriptions of the problem, but no solution. - Jussi (...) Resolving Dependencies

Fractional component of a number
Dear all, I am happy to accept that > is.integer(1) [1] FALSE But I'm having difficulty with this one: > as.integer((2.53-2)*100) [1] 52 especially since: > as.integer((1.53-1)*100) [1] 53 Although I know that this is a precision issue since > x <- (2.53-2)*100 > x-53 [1] -2.131628e-14 And I can always use the round function to get what I want, but I just wonder if

choosing of CPU's to run R
Dear All, I am considering to buy a workstation. For the CPUs, I wonder whether anybody have the experience in choosing one for the R. Intel Xeon W3540 2.93 8MB/1066 QC CPU is much cheaper as compared with the Intel Xeon E5540 2.53 8MB/1066 QC CPU. However, its Hz 2.93 is bigger than 2.53. I wonder which one would run R quicker. Thank you. Huang [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Problems with new kernels
Hello, I have been having problems using kernels since 2.6.9-34.0.2. After updating to a new kernel, my system runs, I'm guessing, 6 - 8 hours fine, then becomes unresponsive. For example, I installed the latest kernel the other evening, reboot for the changes and by morning, the system appears to be locked up. Typing 'yum update' takes about 10 minutes to execute. Not sure whats

splitting a string based on the last underscore
Hello! Hope you could help me split the strings. I have a set of strings: x<-c("name_a1_2.5.o","name_a2_2.53.o","name_a3_bla_1.o") I need to extract from each string: 1. Its unique part that comes before the last "_", i.e.: "a1","a2","a3_bla". 2. The part that comes after the last "_" and before ".o"

Openwebmail emergency (Perl)
After system update yesterday, Openwebmail now gives an error: > Undefined subroutine &Compress::Zlib::memGzip called at /var/www/cgi-bin/openwebmail/shares/ow-shared.pl line 1175. I tried to do perl -MCPAN -e shell install Compress::Zlib But it says Compress::Zlib is up-to-date. What do to?? I cannot find an answer by googling. - Jussi -- Jussi Hirvi * Green Spot Topeliuksenkatu 15

Greater than less than in "ifelse"
I'm trying to categorize a continuous variable (yes, I know that's horrible, but I'm trying to reproduce some exercises from a textbook) and don't really know an efficient way to do this. I have a data frame that looks like: surv_time relapse sex log_WBC rx 1 35 0 1 1.45 0 2 34 0 1 1.47 0 3 32 0 1 2.20 0 4 32

ices compile problems (was: libshout compile problems)
Hi: I've not had any problems compiling libshout and ices2 on my debian woody system with the default autotools (I think they're automake 1.4p4 and autoconf 2.53 if memory serves). I use libogg and libvorbis 1.0 though, not current CVS. I do use libshout and ices2 cvs though. If auto* tools turn out to be a suspect, you can get packages right up to automake 1.7 under woody. Ogg artifacts
I'm having some difficulty getting into Ogg. Being my first time encoding to Ogg, I am left doubtful of the quality in reproduction. Hopefully, it is merely something that I am doing. My original intentions were to go through my CD collection and rip everything out at 224kps VBR. I began with an album I was relatively familiar with. I used FreeRip 2.53 initially, but found that I had

./configure missing in _portable_ openssh?
Just went and cvs co'd portable openssh as described on the website. However, there's no configure there. nor there's a build.conf script of some sort to rebuild it. When I manually did autoconf configure.ac > configuire, I got something, but it couldn't find config.h.in when running. An attempt to run automake said that aclocal.m4 is obsolete and I need to rerun aclocal, but

Patch to update the included popt to 1.6.4
http://www.catnook.com/patches/rsync-popt-1.6.4.patch has a patch which upgrades the popt included with rsync to the latest version, 1.6.4. The configure script had to be regenerated (with autoconf 2.53) because popt.c wants HAVE_FLOAT_H. As an aside, I have heard people complain about this version of autoconf generating scripts that break when run under bash (as /bin/sh). Comments? -- Jos
