Using --link-dest works on small directory tree but not large one
I'm using version 2.6.3 on OS X. I'm trying to use --link-dest to keep some rolling backups of production websites. There is about 2GB of data in 60,000 total files. I do an initial rsync to get an initial copy of the data, and each day thereafter I run rsync again with --link-dest to create a new daily backup. For some reason, in the subsequent runs, rsync updates a whole lot of files

Resize ocfs....?
I've tried several times to resize one of my ocfs volumes[see emcpowere1 below] I'm on the latest [prod] version of ocfs/ocfs-tools as of 3pm EST on 18JUL04. Per instructions... Take down db, unmount all ocfs drives, use ' tuneocfs -F -S 100G /dev/emcpowere1 ' Supposedly this should work, but I get get.... The size specified, 100G, is larger than the device size, 59G. Aborting.

Need to unmount an LV from host system

CentOS 6.3 host system named Earth I was creating some new logical volumes within my exiting volume group for a new virtual machine using the LVM GUI. When I created the LV that I plan to use for root partition of the new VM (Bacteria) I

Problem with smbfs on 2.4.18 kernel
Hi all.. I have found some problems on smbfs module in 2.4.18 kernel. I compiled it by myself (not the very first kernel compilation in my life ;-)) and then I have got it. Looks like it touch smbfs module as when I recompile 2.4.18 modules with smbfs sources changed to sources of smbfs from 2.4.17 problem disappears!! My mainboard is Abit BE6 with Pentium III 450 MHz. sync slowness. ext3 on VIA vt82c686b
When I copy a file(13Megs) from /home/ to /tmp/, sync takes almost 2 minutes. When I copy the same file to /usr/local/, sync returns almost right away. Both filesystems are ext3 and are on the same harddrive. When sync is running, the harddrive light stays on but I don't hear it doing anything. dmesg doesn't show any errors either. Below is the `time` output for each command. If you

disk space trouble on ec2 instance
Hey all, Ok, so I've been having some trouble for a while with an EC2 instance running CentOS 5.11 with a disk volume reporting 100% usage. Root is on an EBS volume. So I've tried the whole 'du -sk | sort -nr | head -10' routine all around this volume getting rid of files. At first I was getting rid of about 50MB of files. Yet the volume remains at 100% capacity. Thinking

How do I resize a Physical Partition in a Dom U that''s "on" a Logical Volume in the Dom 0?
Hey all, I''m trying to figure out how to re-size physical partitions in the Dom U. I''ve read up what I can find on line and finally decided to have Logical Volumes in the Dom 0 and pass them as physical volumes for use in the Dom U. Here''s an example of what I''m doing. To start in the Dom 0 I created the LV''s with lvcreate -n guest_boot -L 100M

Ubuntu 20.04 setup
Louis, et al. Hi! So, I'm working on a 20.04 setup. I think I'll still use the distro version and not Louis' packages. [No offense Louis - I just need to be sure if (forbid) anything happens to Louis, his packages aren't going to be supported any more, and I'll be on my own for security updates etc. The 20.04 versions are pretty current, and I think will meet my needs for the
