randomForest Species Distribution Modelling
Hi,
I appologise if this is a rudimentary question and long winded but I just
wanted to let ye know where I'm comming from. I'm new to R and I'm trying to
use the 'randomForest' package to classify and predict. The Error message
that is troubling me is:
> pr<-predict(predictors,rf1, ext=ext)
Error in x[...] <- m : NAs are not allowed in subscripted assignments

How to convert data to 'normal' if they are in the form of standard scientific notations?
Dear R users
I read two csv data files into R and called them Tem1 and Tem5.
For the first column, data in Tem1 has 13 digits where in Tem5 there are 14
digits for each observation.
Originally there are 'numerical' as can be seen in my code below. But how
can I display/convert them using other form rather than scientific
notations which seems a standard/default?
I want them to be in

using integrate with optimize nested in the integration
Hi guys
im having a problem getting R to numerically integrate for some function,
say f(bhat)*optimize(G(bhat)), over bhat. Where id like to integrate this over some finite range, so that here as we integrate over bhat optimize would return a different optimum.
For instance consider this simple example for which I cannot get R to return the desired result:
f <- function(bhat) exp(bhat)

Error in stepAIC function using a survival model
I keep getting the same error in my survival analysis. I have access to a
very large database but am just using small subsets to get some results. In
this particular subset there is 50 explanatory variables(both factors of
many levels and covariates) and 117 data pieces with some of the data being
censored. I am using the stepAIC command to find my model. My initial
model is built from all

time dependent hazard ratios
Hi, I am new to time-dependent Cox model to estimate time dependent hazard
ratios. Let me use aml dataset from survival package:
> aml3<-survSplit(aml2,cut=c(5,10,20),end="time",start="start",
event="status",episode="i")
If I want to esimate hazard ratio for each of the time intervals 0-5, 5-10,
10-20 and >=20, would the following calculate

hello R users
strange behavior of the integrate function!
i assume this occurs because of the way in which the quadriture is set up! (any comments.)

mixed-effects model using lmer
Hello R-users,
I have been trying to fit what I think is a simple mixed-effects model using lmer (from lme4), but I've run into some difficulty that I have not been able to resolve using the existing archives or Pinheiro and Bates (2000).
I am measuring populations (of birds) which change with time at a number of different sites. These sites are grouped into regions. Sites are not measured

Predicted Cox survival curves - factor coding problems...
I am trying to use the survfit() function with the newdata argument to
produce predicted survivor curves for a particular covariate profile.
The main purpose of the plot will be to visualise the effect of snp1,
coded 0 and 1. In my Cox model I have stratified by one variable, edu, and
so I know I will automatically get a separate curve for each strata. My
problem is how to deal with the

odd GARCH(1,1) results
Hi everybody,
I'm trying to fit a Garch(1,1) process to the DAX returns. My data
consists of about 2300 10day-logreturns in chronologically descending
order (see attachment). But if I use the garch function I get a very
high alpha_1 and a quite low beta, which doesn't make that much sense. I
think I am missing something, but have no idea what it might be. I'd
appreciate it a lot

wireframe advice - with reproducible code
Dear List,
i am trying to produce a 3d plot using wireframe using the code:
wireframe(Residuals_FD ~ Elevation * Temperature, data = data2, scales = list(arrows = FALSE), drape = TRUE, colorkey = TRUE)
As you can see when the code (using the data below) is run the plot area is set-up correctly but the actual surface is missing?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

[LLVMdev] LLVM for ARM target
In the last step after building and installing binutils 2.21 for ARM and LLVM-src, I am trying to build LLVM-GCC. However, I get the repeated system config checking promt. I used the following configuration:
I created a directory called arm_objects and then I write:
$ ../llvm-gcc-4.2/configure --target=arm-linux --program-prefix=llvm- --prefix=/llv
m/arm --enable-pic --disable-optimized

[PATCH 3/3] virtio_ring: unify direct/indirect code paths.
virtqueue_add() populates the virtqueue descriptor table from the sgs
given. If it uses an indirect descriptor table, then it puts a single
descriptor in the descriptor table pointing to the kmalloc'ed indirect
table where the sg is populated.
Previously vring_add_indirect() did the allocation and the simple
linear layout. We replace that with alloc_indirect() which allocates
the indirect

[LLVMdev] LLVM for ARM target
Sorry again, my bad. I actually was using --enable-pics instead of --enable-pic. Now LLVM is being compiled. Hope the last phase llvm-gcc compilation would be a success. Thanks a lot.

[PATCH 0/3] virtio: simplify virtio_ring.
I resurrected these patches after prompting from Andy Lutomirski's
recent patches. I put them on the back-burner because vring_bench
had a 15% slowdown on my laptop: pktgen testing revealed a speedup,
if anything, so I've cleaned them up.
Rusty Russell (3):
virtio_net: pass well-formed sgs to virtqueue_add_*()
virtio_ring: assume sgs are always well-formed.
