Windows 2000 SP2 WINS server<--- vpn ---> Samba 2.0.10 WINS server
RedHat 7.1 running FreeS/WAN and Samba 2.0.10
connects to a DHCP Win2k server box using ipsec. At first I was
implementing Samba 2.0.7 as a WINS server and was encountering a problem
where 'smbclient -M W2kserver' and 'smbclient -L W2kserver' (where W2kserver
is netbios name of w2k box) would give me Win2k side server stats/send
message to win2k box, but I could not ping

Samba 2.2.5-1 problems joining domain - W2K PDC
OK Ladies and Gentlemen I could use a hand on this one. I'm new to the
list, so please excuse me if I violate a protocol which is as yet unknown
to me. However I am having some problems that seem to be beyond my
abilities to find a solution to. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Technical Info:
LINUX Box is a Red Hat 7.1 Kernel version is 2.4.9-34. Samba version(S)

Is 2.2.3/4 as reliable as 2.0.10?
I've been using 2.0.x on my servers for a couple of years & am a very, very
happy customer (thanks Samba team). There are only 2, albiet small,
annoyances. 1) Any account administration results in changes having to be
made on both the NT domain & linux server. 2) I can't do permissions for a
"group of groups" on the linux server. It seems that winbind might be able

FW: Was: Win98SE and Samba 2.0.10 Problems
Well as a further to my last, I broke down and put a copy of Win98SE on a
spare HDD in my Mandrake server box. First moment it was up and running, I
tried to transfer the files between the two problem computers and BINGO! It
worked. So sadly I must assume that the problem must lie on my Linux server
:(
As I have previously tried both Mandrake 8.0 and Redhat 7.1 and end up with
the same transfer

Was: Win98SE and Samba 2.0.10 Problems
Well the weekend didn't bring any solutions to this unhappy camper. I spent
most of my time trying to narrow down the problem again. I started out by
installing a quick copy of ZipSlack on the Win98SE machine to determine once
and for all if the problem was a Windows problem or not. Well, I tried a
simple FTP from the ZipSlack to my Mandrake 8.0 server and it hung up like
in Windows. So I

Win98SE to Samba 2.0.10 Problems
Thanks for the answers so far but I haven't been able to come up with an
solution yet :(
Some new info (see bottom of email for history):
1. I upgraded to 2.0.10 on my Mandrake 8.0, no change to the transfer
problem.
2. I attempted to ftp a file from the Win 98SE PC to my Samba Server,
didn't work. So I can assume that it is not specifically Samba problem.
3. I have changed the NIC cards

Installing 2.0.10a patch
Basic question, but where is the readme or documentation on how to apply the samba patches? - I've always installed the complete versions.... But now I need to stay at 2.0.10, and need to apply the 2.0.10a patch.
Could someone point me at a help file or give the command I need to run? Thanks.

Random Disk I/O Tests
I have two openvz servers running Centos 6.x both with 32GB of RAM.
One is an Intel Xeon E3-1230 quad core with two 4TB 7200 SATA drives
in software RAID1. The other is an old HP DL380 dual quad core with 8
750GB 2.5" SATA drives in hardware RAID6. I want to figure out which
one has better random I/O performance to host a busy container. The
DL380 currently has one failed drive in the

problem with charset and encoding
Hello everyone,
We are having some troubles since we updated dovecot from 2.0.10 to 2.1.6.
With 2.0.10 with messages with this headers:
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
Showed the special characters fine. However, with this new version, there are special characters that are not correctly showed.

Differences in masq from 1.4 -> 2.0?
In the panic of replacing our firewall(s) earlier in the week, we ended up
moving our original shorewall 1.4 config onto a machine with 2.0.10
already installed, overwriting all the 2.0.10 config files.
Most things seem to work fine, except for our masq entries. I''ve examined
the default 2.0.10 files compared with our 1.4 files, and can''t spot the
problem. What am I missing?
