Different way of aggregating
Hi Usually "aggregate" is used to calculate things such as the sum of all data on the first day, the sum next day, and so on. But how can I calculate the mean of the first hour of all days, the mean of the second hour of all days, and so on. ??? That's Most examples: today at 1am + today at 2am + today at 3am +.... -> sum today tomorrow at 1am + tomorrow at 2am + tomorrow at 3am +.... -> sum tomorrow .................. aggregate(data, as.Date, sum) But what I need is: data today at 1 + data tomorrow at 1 + data in two days at 1 + ..... ->...

Nested if help
Hello, I am trying to find a direct way to write a nested if of sorts to find data for a specific time range for a specific day (across a range of days) and have exhausted my abilities with the manuals I have at hand. I have a good deal of data of this approximate form: day time price 1 1am 5 1 2am 7 1 3am 9 1 4am 12 2 1am 5 2 2am 7 2 3am 9 2 4am 12 etc I am reading from a file I loaded and using a while statement. I then am trying the direct approach of writing the if: if(time>=2am &time <=4am) { #specifyi...

which version of backgroundrb to use
Hello I''ve been using backgroundrb for a while now and love it. I''ve notices some recent updates and am confused as to which branch/tag is what. What''s the difference between these: new_core/ version010/ version099/ version10/ and trunk, and where does "0.2.2" fit in? Thanks! -- Peter T. Brown peter at wagglelabs.com http://wagglelabs.com

Help: From Excel date to R-date!
Hi all, I am really new to dealing with Excel date and time formats to be used in R. I have an Excel exported data matrix in TXT format. One column, labeled DATE, is of the following format examples: 1/8/98 1:00 1/8/98 23:00 to mean that the observation was made on 1st of August 1998 at 1AM and another observation made at 11PM. This is a time series example. How do I read in this column in R and convert it most appropriately in a format that R can handle and be utilized in fitting a time series model to the data? Thank you for your answers! Amy Young [[alternative HTML version de...

tc lockup
A few days ago I had a very big problem with tc. On the machine tc is used in many ways: - from crontab to load night-time and day-time bandwidth (at 1am and 8am) - from crontab to get statistics for qdiscs on WAN interfaces (every minute) - from perl/php database for changing user bandwidth (sometimes) What happened: At 1am the night-time bandwidth should be loaded. tc hanged up, and also every tc (for qdisc stats) loaded every minute from cron w...

Problem with cron
I have a root cron job that powers down my server every day at 1am and 6pm. The output of '# crontab -l' is shown below. * 1,18 * * * poweroff Last night, after the server powered down at 6pm, I decided I wanted to use the server so I started it with the power button. The server, after a minute or so, powered itself down. This behaviour happened re...

buildbot failure in LLVM on clang-native-arm-cortex-a9
Hi, I agree with the principle but 2 days feels a bit short to me since, accounting for time zone differences, it's closer to 1 working day. For example, an email sent at 9am PDT arrives at 5pm BST and (assuming normal working hours) might be read at 9am BST (1am PDT). Daylight savings can also make a difference since timezones that use it don't agree on when it's in effect. The owner taking a single day off is easily sufficient to go past the 2 day limit. However, the main comment I wanted to make is that it would be useful to be able to tell whet...

R internal clock time discrepancy
Dear R: I'm trying to map some time series data on to dates and because I'm using R's "strptime' facility I get an hour's break in my time series: my readings for between 1am and 2am on 27th March 2005 won't map onto anything (I'm using a data logger to record temperature and other things in a forest). As far as I know, the clock's didn't change on 27th March 2005 so why is this happening? > start=strptime("2005-03-27 00:00","%Y-%m-%d...

False RING (incoming call) on Digium X101P FXO
...sharing the POTS line with the Digium X101P FXO: | | Wall |>---+------X101P FXO as Zap/5 | | | Phone & Alarm Whenever the Phone is used, Asterisk sees a 'false ring' signal immediately when the phone is hung up. The Alarm panel dials out nightly at around 1AM, and each time it completes the call, Asterisk sees another False Ring. As you can imagine, this is rather annoying, since the bogus ring causes Asterisk to kick off the incoming context (pots-line) and ring the inside extensions. It looks like this: ERROR[294930]: File callerid.c, Line 192 (cal...

PC Backup Script?
I am trying to setup my Sun running samba 1.9.18p10 so that it can backup my dept's PCs. I can get it to work manually using the smbclient command with no problem. What I would like to do is have a script that is able to take a list of PCs, determine if a PC is online, backup that PC, then move on to the next one. If a PC is down, it can report an error to the admin to state that the

Doing things with POSIXt
Dear R-Users, I have a data file with timestamps and I wanted to use POSIXct time data type to represent the respective column. I played around with the type and found a couple of issues: * there seems to be no direct way of reading datetimes into a variable. Let's say this is my file "1992-02-27 23:03:20 PST" "1992-02-27 22:29:56 PST" "1992-01-14 01:03:30 PST"
