...traffic send to one of local hosts. This host was - terminal server and 20 users worked with their mailboxes that time. But normal 20 imap session can't fork that amount of traffic (5.2Gb). After measuring local thunderbird's cached mailboxes we find out that one user have local INBOX about 19Gb and size is rising. On server side - this mailbox was 89Mb. recover missing messages - files still present in storage
Hi, I have a user account that had almost 20GB of emails and now they're missing. Only a few are available trough IMAP or doveadm. I can see in /path/to/mailbox/storage that thousands of "m." files are still there, summing up 19GB of files. doveconf -n http://termbin.com/7lgc I have tried: accessing via IMAP accessing via doveadm search/fetch/mailbox status doveadm index doveadm force-resync doveadm dump: -- INDEX: /srv/dovecot2/index/DOMAIN_SUPRESSED/ACCOUNT_SUPRESSED/storage/dovecot.map.index version .....................

Are these numbers resonsable?
...documents and replacing (I don't add, just replaces) 3 - The indexer/parser of documents send all them to "2" after X documents [3] - With 500K documents the flush (automatict) is very slow (the last started 2 hours ago from this mail, and not ended yet), the database(flint) are with 19GB, look delve result: number of documents = 560857 average document length = 1348.51 My worse is about 2hours of flush needed, but if you saw me that it's normal, I'll implement a system to create another database after 500K documents and xapian-compact the old one. -- SDM Underlinux http:/...

Poor Performance WhenNumber of Files > 1M
Hi all, I plan on having about 100M files totaling about 8.5TiBytes. To see how ext3 would perform with large numbers of files I've written a test program which creates a configurable number of files into a configurable number of directories, reads from those files, lists them and then deletes them. Even up to 1M files ext3 seems to perform well and scale linearly; the time to execute

Network transfer speed issues in RHEL4
I am in need of some help with a speed issue on a test Red Hat server. The server is running RHEL4 ES Update 4. When copying a file using FTP it transfers at 19GB per hour, but when copying via SMB it transfers at 3-4GB per hour. The network card on the server is Intel 10/100. When copying using samba a simple cp -av command is used. I have tested when this server is part of Active Directory and when not with the same results. Also, I've tested enabling...

slow usb hard disk performance.
Dear All, I tried a USB2 Maxtor One touch II external hard disk on a couple of my Centos 4.2 boxes and found it initiallised the SCSI subsystem ok and added device "sda". But the performance is miserable, yet the same hardware running XP the performance is satisfactory. HDPARM gives results varying from 120k/sec to , at its peak 4.75M/s on a USB 2 machine, still very poor by any

Semi-OT: Backing up maildir
We switched our mail server over from mbox to maildir a few months ago and couldn't be happier - the performance under normal load is incredible. However we now have a problem with backup.. Typically we would run tar on the mail server, sending its output to another server via ssh.. Like this: tar cfp - /home | gzip | ssh other.server (cd /backups && tar xfp -).. I have tried

Indexing speed benchmark - Xapian, Solr
I came across this benchmark between Xapian & Solr: http://www.anur.ag/blog/2009/03/xapian-and-solr/ According to the benchmark, a doc set that took Solr 34 min to index took Xapian 7 hours. Solr's index is also much smaller - 2.5GB to Xapian's 8.9GB. I'm new to Xapian. Just wondering if results like these are typical? Is indexing speed & size a known issue in Xapian? Or is

Issue with hard links, please help!
Hello, Sometimes when creating hard links to the rsync destination directory, it seems like the new directory (created from the cp -al command) ends up with all the data. This causes a problem in the sense that if the rsync destination directory had 21GB, after the cp -al command, it ends up having only 8mb, then the rsync source directory determines that it now requires 21.98GB to update the
