Hi,
I bought a 16GB Transcend JetFlash V10 yesterday and am trying to
put the fc8 livecd on it (after filling it up with all sorts of
other junk :)
I've only plugged it into an fc8 machine (from unopened) - nothing else.
I also have a Toshiba U3 2GB USB.
The OS is fc8 fully updated except the kernel (2.6.23.15-...

Memory available to 32-bit R app on 64-bit machine
I want to get a 64-bit machine/OS system so I can put 16Gb of RAM in it. As
first I assumed that I would have to use the 64-bit version of R to make use
of the 16Gb of RAM, which would mean that I would use the Linux version of
R. But I have heard many posters say they run the 32-bit version of R on a
64-bit machine/OS. So my questions, in Windows 64-bi...

RHEL 5.2 i386 image - Xen kernel doesn''t recognize the total amount of system memory
Hello,
We have installed RHEL 5.2 Server ( i386 image ) on a machine with 64GB of
RAM.
When booting the default PAE kernel ( 2.6.18-92.el5PAE ) that is shipped
with RHEL 5.2 installation the OS detects 64GB of RAM.
But when booting the Xen kernel ( 2.6.18-92.el5xen ) the OS detects only
14GB of the total amount of available RAM.
Did anyone encounter this problem before ?
Is it a normal

ParaGuest cannot see 30GB memory
Hi,
I have buit Xen (32 bit) with PAE and can start multiple Paraguests with 4 gig memory, but cannot launch a single VM with more than 4 gb memory. I would like to launch 1 VM with 30GB or so memory. Are there any config paramters like kernel,/inittrd that need to be changed.
I have the ramdisk set to the initrd I used to boot xen with PAE.
Thanks

¿Memoria virtual y R?

Join Samba without GC role
Hi Andrew!
I notice, when we have a lot of domain Samba replicate object from all domain - it's too long for us (GC about 16gb).
I going to use --domain-critical-only, and after join disable GC on Samba.

Hard memory limit of 16GB under Windows?
Hi Samuel,
please also have a look at ?memory.limit. You can set this limit at R
startup. It is in megabytes. Maybe R Studio sets it at runtime.

Recommended computer resources to build llvm
I've got a i7 with 12 logical cores and 16GB of RAM I successfully
built RELEASE_390/final but for the last 100 or so files I'd to use
"ninja -j2" so as not to keep from swapping in the best case and and
in the worst case the build kills itself without completing because
apparently its run out of memory.

2GB of Waste? How can it be?
Dr. Tweedie, et al.:
I recently formatted a partition using EXT3, and after a "df -h"
I get 14GB of space. When I reformatted the partition with ReiserFS, and
did a "df -h" I got 16GB of space!
Now the partition was setup to be 16GB via fdisk, so 16GB is
correct. However, why does EXT3 loose 2GB of space? The journals cannot
be that big!?!

Hard memory limit of 16GB under Windows?
Dear Samuel,
The most important information from your mail was the actual error message:
"cannot allocate vector of size 12.6 Gb".
You'll need to know what code generated this error message. And then figure
out if the code does something sensible. Often that is not the case when
you get a similar error message.

Which kernel package?
I am building a new system which will have a pair of dual-core
Opterons and 16GB memory. Should I use kernel-smp or kernel-hugemem?
I see that RH recommends the hugemem kernel if you have more than 16GB
(and we may upgrade at some point, the MB supports 32GB).
Any comments on this? The only difference that the descriptions show
is the 4GB/4GB split with the hugemem kernel a...

Hard memory limit of 16GB under Windows?
Hi,
I am not not sure whether this topic belongs to this mail list, but I
feel the subscribers here should be the right audience.
I noticed that the memory limit reported under Windows is 16 GB. I am
wondering how to increase it. I didn't found anything in Rprofile.site
nor .Rprofile. Is this limit hard coded at compilation?
Best,
Samuel
