strange disk space calculation ext4 df and du
Hi,
in one server I do have a SSD raid 1 size 219GB.
df shows 9.4 GB free, 198GB used.
If I do "du -sch * | sort -h -r" on /, I just have close to 3.5GB used ....
Any hints, what's eating up the space?
Centos 6.6, fs = ext4.

strange partitioning problem
Hello listmates,
Here's I am, trying to install Centos 6.2 64-bit on a server with 24 TB of
disk RAIDed as RAID 6. So I get this 18 TB disk (the RAID is recognized as
one disk) where I am trying to put my OS. And I can create a couple of
partitions - let us say I defiine a 150 GB swap, a 150 GB "/", a 100 GB
"/var". So far so good. Then I try to define the next one, say, a

df & du - that old chestnut
...est I did a df & du of this filesystem and then deleted (via RMAN)
the oldest backup, this file was 17Gb in size, after which I again did a
du & df. These both reported that 17Gb had been released to the
filesystem.
What I still don't get is why df reports that the Used space is at 198Gb
- that seems an awful waste
Any insight into this major discrepancy would be much appreciated.
