Filling holes in a FLAC file from an old Vorbis file
I have a partly damaged CD, from which I extracted 192Kb/s Vorbis files a while ago (before it got damaged) and I'd like to get FLAC files. `cdparanoia' extracted most of the data from the CD, but there are some holes due to the damages. How could I fill those holes in my FLAC files using the Vorbis files? Stefan

sound quality
i'm recently started to encode my cd's into ogg vorbis format (192kb/s), and i am very much pleased with the quality. however, i will certainly feel awful after encoding 1gb of files and beta5 comes out, claiming to increase the sound quality. in other words, should i be using ogg vorbis for long-term audio storage without fear that those files are crappy qual...

Client had recoverable error
Hi there, I?m using icecast 2.0.1 with darkice 0.14 streaming an 192kb mp3 stream. Everything seems to work fine except that clients (eg winamp5) disconnect after a period of time (5/10/20 minutes). The icecast log shows some weir errors: [2004-08-18? 01:24:54] DBUG format-mp3/format_mp3_write_buf_to_client Client had recoverable error -1 [2004-08-18? 01:24:54] DBUG...

Ogg/Vorbis Downsampling?
...de for creating such a kick-ass audio encoding scheme: I'm probably using the wrong term of "downsampling" here, but here goes. I remember reading about Vorbis being designed with streaming in mind. I was wondering if one aspect was to allow easy ad-hoc downsampling (e.g. going from 192kb/s to 128kb/s) without re-encoding. Does such a facility exist in the Ogg format or Vorbis encoding? Regards, Paul C. smbclient - recently broken?
Hello all, forgive me if this is old news but it seems to me that smbclient is prone to getting into an infinite loop when mget'ting a stack of files. I have tested (compiled from source with defaults) samba versions 3.0.10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 14a Versions prior to 3.0.13 are fine, in my environment, versions 3.0.13 and later are causing the problem. The basic data on my system is -a P4 3.2

Forcing a sspecific stream type
Is it possible to force Icecast to stream in a specific stream type, such as OGG, regardless of the source or input? For example, if a streaming client connects to an Icecast server with an MP3 format stream, can Icecast be forced to send it out as OGG or AAC or anything else? Or does Icecast simply pass the stream through unconverted?

...st-Archive: http://lists.samba.org/pipermail/samba/ Hello people, I've got a little problem: My Sambaserver (wich runs in an win9x-Network) gives acces to a FAT-partition, so that I'm able to copy files 'n folders on it over the ethernet. But he allows only files wich are smaller than 192KB, when they are larger, my win95-Computer gives me the message that the files cannot be created and it stops copying. What does that mean? thanks, Ldlu Return-Path: <dogbert@mail.netnevada.net> Delivered-To: samba@lists.samba.org Received: from nermal.donbest.com (nermal.donbest.com [12.11...
