fullscreen uses panning, and xrandr has cursor moving
I'm having a problem with games running in wine fullscreen with nvidia proprietary driver 185.18 under Fedora 11 64-bit. My desktop resolution is 1920x1200, and when I run a game with 1280x960 fullscreen setup (like Halo for example), it changes resolution to 1280x960 and runs fullscreen as expected, but when I move the mouse toward the edge rapidly, it pans the game screen away as if 1280x960 screen is moving around the larger 1920x1200 desktop, with...

limited resolution on DVI and HDMI at the same time
I got 1920x1200 at 59.95Hz via DVI and 3840x2160 at 60.00Hz via HDMI at the same time with the proprietary nvidia driver. I get flickering on the 1920x1200 at 59.95 with the nouveau driver (it doesn't flicker if I lower it to 1920x1080 at 59.96). Any idea why? proprietary: $ xrandr Screen 0: minimum 8 x 8...

Strange monitor behavior on forced DVI-D output
Hello , I'm new here but I hope I can describe my problem exactly. I'm trying to get my DVI-Monitor to work with nouveau. The monitor is automatically reported as not connected. LVDS is detected. Forcing it on Xorg.conf didn't work, KMS does: video=DVI-D-1:1920x1200e video=LVDS-1:d X started with 1024x768, but could switch by xrandr to 1920x1200. The viewed picture now is 1920x1200 , but the Monitor runs on 960x1200, so that it looks very pixelated. (But there is no panning) Tried to add another (cvt calculated) modeline (1920x1200_60.00) with xrandr, but...

Intel Displayport on Centos 7
...as this to say about DisplayPort on the built-in graphics controller: QUOTE: DisplayPort?s maximum supported display resolution is 2560 x 1600 at a 60 Hz refresh rate with a 16:10 aspect ratio (WQXGA). END OF QUOTE It also states that the maximum supported resolution on the built-in DVI-I port is 1920x1200, which is the resolution of the monitor that I have right now; the one that appears to be dying. Therefore, this new monitor wouldn't work at full resolution with that output. Having never used DisplayPort before, I'm wondering if this means that if I purchase the BenQ monitor above, or so...

VMWare Issue
...rst boots, the screen is very small and almost impossible to select the username field and log in. Once I log in if I de-select full screen and then re-select full-screen it updates to the correct size. I've installed vmware tools three times now. Inside the centos guess I set my resolution to 1920x1200, which matches my windows 7 machine as well as the resolution I run the other linux guests at. I set the monitor to "generic 1920x1200 LCD" because my monitor type isn't detected. (Samsung P2770H) Video adapter is set to vmware. (Actual device is an ATI HD 6950) Anyone have any ideas...

I'm waiting to see if my current monitor actually dies. It's an Asus 1920x1200 monitor that I like rather a lot, but it occasionally acts a bit flaky when coming back out of sleep mode. (The screen fills with a white brick-like pattern, but when I turn the monitor off and back on again it works perfectly once again. It has gone weeks between episodes of this, and it's d...

unstable refresh rate
I think I may have updated the tv firmware between when it worked and when it didn't. I wonder it it has to do with bit depth. I use lubuntu and it doesn't let me pick the bit depth so I don't know what it using.

where to report modesetting DDX bug?
...ifests only on an NVidia GPU? Directly against the server https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver? Here are some particulars: How can I tell whether this should be reported to kernel tracker or to freedesktop tracker as driver or server problem? HDMI output on GT218 10de:0a65 GPU is limited to 1920x1200. When connected to 2560x1440 display, vttys are supported at display's supported 1920x1080 mode, but X with modesetting DDX puts display in unsupported mode (functionally asleep) regardless of various attempts to force 1920x1080 at 60 or 1600x900 at 60, while with nouveau DDX, or 1920x1200 disp...

Virtual to physical migration
I had created a virtualbox VM to test out opensolaris. I updated to latest dev build and set my things up. Tested pools and various configs/commands. Learnt format/partition etc. And then, I wanted to move this stuff to a solaris partition on the physical disk. VB provides physical disk access. I put my solaris partition in there and created slices for root, swap etc. in that partition inside the

CentOS4 on Dell Inspiron 9300
I just purchased a Dell Inpiron 9300 from the Dell Outlet store. Installing CentOS4 went very, very smoothly until I tried configuring X. The 17" screen has a 16:10 aspect ratio with a 1920x1200 resolution. The best I could manage using system-config-display was 1600x1200. So, after a bit of research, I hand editted the xorg.conf file (reproduced below) and it now works great. Maybe there was a simpler solution, but I didn't know one. Enlightenment would be welcome, but in the mean...
