using if then statements in a dataframe
I used this service several months ago and was very pleased with the response.
I have a dataframe with several thousand lines and to each line I need to apply a series of "if else" statements. For each row I need either a value or a blank/NA. Below is the series of if else statements I have been trying without success to integrate into a function such as "apply".

vlookup in R?
Hi R-users,
I would like to search for the values of seq that match my rand values. In excel I will use =VLOOKUP(G2,$E$2:$F$32,2). For example, for rand=.262 it will give me approximately seq=120 and rand=0.964293344, seq=460 and etc.

Pasting the code right into the email is usually safest, though you DO have to post using plain text (as the Posting Guide indicates) or your code may get mangled by the automatic html format removal.

Unless there is good reason not to, always cc the list -- there are lots of
smarter folks than I on it who can help.
I may or may not have time to look at this. Hopefully someone else will.

Summarizing data containing data/time information (as factor)
Dear R user
I want to create a table (as below) to summarize the attached data
(Test.csv, which can be read into R by using 'read.csv(Test.csv, header=F)'
), to indicate the day that there are any data available, e.g.value=1 if
there are any data available for that day, otherwise value=0.

Questions about doing analysis based on time
Man, R has a steep learning curve (but I suppose you all know this). I have
very little programming knowledge, so when I search for answers to my
questions, I struggle with making sense of a lot of the pages.
I have a spreadsheet that I've read into R using read.csv. I've also
attached it. It looks like this (except there are 1600+ entries):
