Handing significance digits
Hi folks, recently I was trying evaluation of some complex function having
exactly same starting values as well as same algorithm in both R and .Net
environment. However at the end point I notice that there are some
differences in the reported figures from those two applications (as much as
0.10%). I feel this is basically due to consideration of different
significance digits in handling floating

How to do a pretty panel plot?
The pretty picture that I saw at:
http://chartsgraphs.wordpress.com/2009/02/09/r-panel-chart-beats-excel-chart/#more-1096
inspired me to try something similar. The code that I wrote is:

M <- structure(list(date = structure(c(13634, 13665, 13695, 13726,
13757, 13787, 13818, 13848, 13879, 13910, 13939, 13970,

Repeated Measures Analysis - GLM
Hello to the R world...
I have some problems regarding a GLM - repeated measures analysis.
I want to test overall differences between AgeClass and Treatment (between
subject) with OpenR1+OpenR2+OpenR3 (repeated measures, within subject). The
table looks kind like this:
AgeClass Treatment OpenR1 OpenR2 OpenR3
1 1 0 0 12.63
1 1 12.67 3.83 45.67
1 1 38.46 65.38 75.21
1 1 14.46 0 17.96
1 2 27.83

Manage an unknown and variable number of data frames
Hi,
In the code below I create a small data.frame (dat) and then cut it
into different groups using CutList. The lists in CutList allow to me
choose whatever columns I want from dat and allow me to cut it into
any number of groups by changing the lists. It seems to work OK but
when I'm done I have a variable number of data frames what I need to
do further operations on and I don't know

Finding performance bottlenecks
Hi
I'm trying to setup a 3 node gluster, and am hitting huge performance
bottlenecks.
The 3 servers are connected over 10GB and glusterfs is set to create a 3
node replica.
With a single VM performance was poor, but I could have lived with it.
I tried to stress it by putting copies of a bunch of VMs on the servers
and seeing what happened with parallel nodes.. network load never broke

Finding performance bottlenecks
Hi,
So is the KVM or Vmware as the host(s)? I basically have the same setup ie
3 x 1TB "raid1" nodes and VMs, but 1gb networking. I do notice with vmware
using NFS disk was pretty slow (40% of a single disk) but this was over 1gb
networking which was clearly saturating. Hence I am moving to KVM to use
glusterfs hoping for better performance and bonding, it will be interesting

Parallel computing with snow
I've been using parApply() in snow package for parallel computing with
the following lines in R 2.8.1:
library(snow)
nNodes <- 4
cl <- makeCluster(nNodes, type = "SOCK")
fm <- parApply(cl, myData, c(1,2), func1, ...)
Since I have a Mac OS X (version 10.4.11) with two dual-core
processors, I thought that I could run 4 simultaneous clusters.
However with the 1st job

doveadm fts optimize undocumented
Subject says all. Timo, would you write something up where the world
will find it? Also, it would be great if doveadm fts was covered in the
doveadm manpage.
Thanks,

unlinking
Quick question. How important are these? Are the errors recoverable and
not a big deal, or are they actually a problem? I see a few of these
randomly over the course of the day.

Dear Javier,
The package has been updated and should work for you fine now. Note that
function mcp.fnc does not return the fourth plot (dffits) anymore. We still
have to figure out a way to compute

thread taskq / unp_gc() using 100% cpu and stalling unix socket IPC
Hi there
We have a pair of servers running FreeBSD 9.1-RC3 that act as transparent layer 7 loadbalancer (relayd) and pop/imap proxy (dovecot). Only one of them is active at a given time, it's a failover setup. From time to time the active one gets in a state in which the 'thread taskq' thread uses up 100% of one cpu on its own, like here:

Routes
hi all,
I want to move some routing tasks out of the router and into the
controller. The goal is to make Merb feel less like mod_rewrite and
give the user more control at the controller. The new Router is
simple: it takes the path_info (not the whole request) then outputs a
controller class and some parameters from the path matching. The rest
of the routing would be done at the controller level.
