More speedups in CVS
The ''firewall'' and ''functions'' file in CVS together produce a 30%+ speedup of ''shorewall restart'' on my firewall when compared to 1.3.11a. Please test with these files -- I don''t anticipate making any more performance changes for 1.3.12 and I want to be sure that I didn''t break anything. -Tom -- Tom Eastep \ Shorewall

APC SmartUPS 1500 (USB) does not report OL/OB state
...almost instantly and works reliable. Can't say if it will give me timeouts (24 hours, it still works, but see above, it means nothing yet). But CPU consumption increased significantly. Before the change this VM consumed around 7MHz CPU share when idle (using VMware monitor), now it consumes 100-160MHz (and 1% using top inside of VM). The usbhid-ups driver is either in S state (sleep) or mostly in D (uninterruptible sleep). 1498 nut 20 0 2636 588 360 D %CPU=2 0.1 16:05.10 usbhid-ups My guess was that similarly to setting "pollonly" flag which deals with broken HID...

New User: Kudos, small/old platform, RPM Illegal Instruction
Hello All! My 1st use of CentOS went well on my later eqpt. Thanks and congrats on a good product. Figured I might as well see if I could use it on some old stuff, still good but obsolete. Picked an AMD 5x86 (equivalent to a Pentium 75 MHz) and decided to see if I could make it my gateway/router. Had some difficulties, not unexpected. Old CD drive couldn't read the CDs. No boot from CD
