Problem downloading mail with "large" attachment using Thunderbird....
We have a user that is using Thunderbird on Windows to read mail over IMAP and it works ok, except for downloading mail with "large" attachment.. When opening a mail with a attachment with a size of 14-15MB, TB downloads the attachment seemingly ok, but TB stops when reaching 99%. After TB has stopped, if the user tries to select another mail, TB just hangs and it has to be closed and started again to work again... I have checked the dovecot log, but I can't find anything there... We have also tri...

I then copied a 1.3GB file from the server to my client to generate traffic. The resulting file was around 93k lines (15MB). I've copied the first 2000 lines since it looks like the rest are repeats/similar: http://pastebin.com/raw/2EJsk0An I can provide the full file as well if required. [storage-discuss] ZFS snapshot send/recv "hangs" X4540 servers
...org/mailman/listinfo/storage-discuss >> > > I checked this morning, and 117 is available now > > -- > Brent Jones > brent at servuhome.net > Confirming this issue is fixed on build 117. Snapshots are significantly faster as well. My average transfer speed went from about 15MB/sec to over 40MB/sec. I imagine that 40MB/sec is now a limitation of the CPU, as I can see SSH maxing out a single core on the quad cores. Maybe SSH can be made multi-threaded next? :) -- Brent Jones brent at servuhome.net

slog tests on read throughput exhaustion (NFS)
...rites went to the log device, reads would merrily be allowed to coexist from the pool itself. My test case isn''t ideal per se, but I added a local 9GB SCSI (80) drive for a log, and added to LUNs for the pool itself. You''ll see from the below that while the log device is pegged at 15MB/sec (sd5), my directory list request on devices sd15 and sd16 never are answered. I tried this with both no-cache-flush enabled and off, with negligible difference. Is there anyway to force a better balance of reads/writes during heavy writes? extended device statistics device...

Very slow samba performance on Centos 6
...I have 2 identical Dell r510 servers with 10gig card, running centos 6 with samba-3.5.4-68.el6_0.2.x86_64. I setup 16G ramdisk samba share on both and ran cp from local ramdisk to samba ramdisk mount. If I cp 12 1-gig files, I get combined 100MB/s transfer rate. Single file cp maxes out at about 15MB/s. Ftp transfer give me over 300MB/s. Running with 9000 MTU. Most smb.conf is default. I even disabled atime and tried ext2 and xfs on ramdisk. Any help will be greatly appreciated. - Vadim

Dovecot and FTS experiment
...s. 1. I have 15 mail servers. It will be good If I add new server with Solr and use it on all Dovecot servers? Or maybe I should install Solr on all mail servers? 2. I notice - I have mail account with 3GB of mail. Index files in mail dir has 5MB. After indexing mailbox in Solr - index files has 15MB. What changes in those files? FTS indexing adds something to that files - but what? 3. If I need to disconnect Dovecot from Solr server - simply Can I remove plugin configuration from dovecot.conf and everything would be working? Or maybe - I need to remove index files and recreate it? It is i...

Samba - Performance Issues
...1Ghz machines with 512MB of RAM. The server is running on a default server installation of Red Hat 7.2. We have a 500Gb RAID 5 drive using the Promise SX6000 Raid controller. Currently we are only getting a throughput of ~5MB/S for writes and ~13MB/S for reads. Comparing that to NFS which yealds ~15MB/S for reads and ~13MB/S for writes. This clearly rules out the Hardware bottleneck since XFS is able to perform better on the same hardware. Here is the smb.conf I am using currently ===SMB.CONF=== [global] workgroup = MYGROUP netbios name = {HOSTNAME} wins server = {WINSSERVER} server string...

importing from Stata
...t I must learn better how to exchange data between the two softwares. I am now focusing on importing data from Stata to R, and I must confess that I am a bit disappointed with the read.dta function from the foreign package because IT typically happens that (i) I get a big R file (for example, a 15Mb Stata file became a 42Mb R file; after cleanup.import() from the Hmisc package, it drooped to 35Mb, but that's still more than 2x the original Stata file) which, in turn, I suspect is due the fact that (ii) factors are created using Stata labels as levels. I wonder if (i) there isn't...

With the last version, 1.1.1 (I think) I didn't have this kind of problem. I've tried to increase memory through: rgui.exe --vsize 16M --nsize 1000k but nothing Thanks in advance, Antonio Antonio Rodr?guez Verdugo Huelva, Spain rod.c...

The situation is the same: the xl process for jessie amd64 guests starts off at a resident size of 15mb as opposed to ~500kb for wheezy i386 guests. At guest reboot it jumps to 17mb and then, after a few seconds, to ~34mb. I also rebooted the host to help make sure the test is valid. GPLPV 0.9.10 & 0.9.11.pre17/18 Network Issues

Basically my initial iperf tests were showing 937Mbits/sec down and 345Mbits/sec up but when I try to copy a 2GB file from the server to any other machine on the LAN I am getting speeds around 30KB/s where a physical box this will be replacing gets around 15MB/s. These boxes are on the same VLAN and my config file and GPLPV driver setup is identical to the steps in the WIKI. Any ideas? write cache size option: why deprecated? doubled my performance
Hello, I had some troubles with samba performance after I switched my network to gigabit ethernet: FTP gave 50MB/s (on a 5GB file) NFSv3 40MB/s (win xp client with SFU, free nfs client for windows) Samba (win XP client) only 15MB/s. After some fiddling with options, I found out that setting write cache size to 256KB resulted in a very big performance improvement, now also samba gabe 40MB/s. The documentation (man-page smb.conf) doesn't mention that this option is deprecated. But the log file now prints: WARNING: Th...

...the Linux box, I want to basically back up some stuff from the Windows box. To do so, I use the following: smbclient //winbox/share "" -N -Tc backup.tar This reports the data transfer rate at around 65kb/s If I use ftp from the Windows box to the Linux box, I can ftp files at around 15MB/s (near hard drive write speed on the Windows box). Even when I manually copy files using: smbclient //winbox/share "" -N and then get bigfile.zip I still get the slow speeds. I did see some things on the 'net about using smbmount and turn the TTL up to 10 seconds or so. I tried...

Could someone pls. give me a hint. - user1 max. mailbox quota is set to 1GB, the current mailbox size of user1 is 15MB - user2 max. mailbox quota is set to 10MB, the current mailbox size of user1 is 10kB - user1 shares the folder 'shared_folder' to user2 with all rights (read, write ...) - user2 has subscribed to 'shared_folder' the problem: - user2 tries to move a mail (20kB) to the shared...

OT: AstLinux 0.2.2 released
...and higher x86 support. There is actually WAY more software, but I couldn't possibly list it all. It is now available as a Windows install package (or 32mb Compact Flash image). AstLinux 0.2.2 occupies around 26mb of disk space once expanded to flash. The gzip'd CF images are about 15mb and the Windows installer isn't much more (for both images, the PDF user guide, and a copy of Putty). I had mixed feelings about which version of Asterisk to include with this build. I NEED native MOH, so I checked out a copy of CVS HEAD from 1/10/2005 and have been testing it for months....
