Question about Polycom SoundPoint 500
Hi Folks; I just bought a Polycom SoundPoint 500 off of ebay after having spent way too much time trying to get updated sip images for our cisco phones. The phone I bought didn't have an AC power adapter; Could someone please tell me the volts & amps that the dc plug that comes with the phone puts out? Thanks! Mike

stupid trick of the day (fried polycom)
I've been playing around with a new system I'm going to install in another office. In setting up the Polycom's, I accidently used a new power supply from a new 601 (24VDC) with an 600. The 600 only require 12VDC. Now, I get nothing on the screen of the 600 when I plug in 12 VDC. (At the time, I didn't even realize the power supplies were supplying different voltages.) Guess I'll have to buy a new 601 to replace the 600.

12V computing?
Does anyone on the list have recommendations on 12VDC based hardware which runs a stock Centos 4 (or even 5)? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- - - - Jason Pyeron PD Inc. http://www.pdinc.us - - Principal Consultant 10 Wes...

Power-outage
I have a CentOS-5.6 remote server in a house in Italy, where there are occasional thunder-storms. There was one yesterday, when the electricity went off 3 times, for a second or so on each occasion. My server, an HP MicroServer, came back (re-booted) on 2 of the 3 occasions, but not on the third. I assume that the problem arises because the machine does not close down properly. (Although it is

Power burn test
I need a program that will just run everything at max so I can measure the max power used on some systems. My 'Kill a Watt' meter should show up early next week. SO run that CPU at max, using all memory, and keeping the harddrive spinning. I can jsut do pings on the lan card for it to stay awake. I have searched here and on the net and have come back with nothing.

...g / filling such shells with 3rd party batteries? I have never had to replace batteries in an Eaton anything. I hope the following is both correct and useful. I have replaced a fair number (probably around a hundred) batteries in other UPSes and devices (like a Fuji X-Ray machine that takes 16 12VDC at 22AH batteries). That's over 200VDC at a Significant current (the batteries claim 12V, but they are charged to over 13V). I like batteries from RaionGroup.com or batterywholesale.com. There are some other companies out there that I will never buy from again. I try to get high-rate batte...

Polycom Power Specs
Does anybody happen to know the input power specs for the Polycom IP 500 and IP 600? We've mixed up our power supplies and we've got a whole box of them and can't figure out which go to the Polycoms. I would rather not kill the phones by trying random ones....

Tripp Lite SmartPro SMX500RT1U incompatibility
Greetings to all, I recently connected a Tripp Lite SMX500RT1U unit to a Synology NAS (basically a Marvell ARM equipped box running a custom 2.6.24 Linux). I tried using the tripplite_usb driver contained in nut 2.4.1 with not much luck. It does read the model ID and VA rating properly, but fails at everything else - mains voltage (this is a 230VAC EU model), battery config, unit status etc.

Very loud noise on TDM400
I am having a problem with and Asterisk installation where two ports connected to a TDM400 card will have a very loud noise when you try to dial. The server has an OpenVox D110P, a TDM04B and a Xorcom Astribank 8 fxs. It is running Zaptel 1.4.11 and Asterisk 1.4.18. The problem always happens with two ports (34 and 35) which are connected to two GSM gateways. They will work fine for a week

Eaton 5PX 3rd party batteries
Hello, nut recently told me that the batteries need replacing in my Eaton 5PX2200RT (ups) and 5PXEBM48RT (external battery pack). According to my notes, it has been just over 4 years since I installed them. Looking at on-line sales, these seem to use batteries in a pre-packaged plastic shell. I don't recall if that's what's in my units or not. Do you have any experience with

Off-Topic: Travel Router and Firewall
This is off-topic and the only connection with CentOS is that the laptop will be running CentOS... I am looking for a travel router/firewall for a number of reasons: - Protect against outside attacks when outside the office/home not relying on whatever protection the laptop/tablet/phone offers. - Allow for fast transfer for data between devices without being limited by the bandwidth of the

My implementation required opening up high power components, and dealing with 120VAC mains power and high currents on 12VDC. If you decide to tackle any of this yourself, you need to understand how to do this safely, size components appropriately, etc. My goal is to keep a home Internet connection available during a power outage. This doesn't happen that often, but it bugged me when it did and I like playing with p...
