unofficial ext3 and ext4 compare
I have something like 300G I routinely backup.
This includes some large 12Gig images and other files.
I had been using ext3 on an external USB disk for part of the process.
Under ext3 doing "rsync -a /home /mnt/external_back/backup.jun.27.2011"
it took 200 minutes.
I took the same computer, same external HD and reformatted it for ext4
(mkfs.ext4 /dev/sdd1).

Samba 2.2.8a Large File Support Issues
...t on an NT
server, from my Linux box, and getting erroneous results.
Related Info:
When attempting to list files on the smbfs volumne from my Linux
box, the file sizes come out as really strange numbers.
For example, I have a file called 'vision_jan.zip' which I know to
be roughtly 12Gig. But when I try to list the file my Linux box, it
looks like this.
# ls vision_jan.zip -l
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 18446744073319179800 Jan 27 16:22
vision_jan.zip
# ls vision_jan.zip -lh
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 16E Jan 27 16:22 vision_jan.zip

Setting up large (12.5 TB) filesystem howto?
Hi,
I'm trying to set up an iscsi 12.5 TB storage for some data backup.
Doing so, I had some difficulties to find the right tool, maybe it's
also a question of the system settings...
The server is a 32Bit CentOS 5.3 with the recent updates. Ths iscsi
connection can be establised.
fdisk and parted fail to create any information on the device or fail
completely.

Anyone using * in a live production environment?
Hullo again, all :)
If you're using * to run telephony in a real business environment, can I
trouble you to write a short paragraph about the setup, and how you've
found the migration / daily use?
I'm simply trying to add weight to the business case for new * installs,
especially for those who have a very conservative management structure.
Like I say, I'm not looking for a case

Is the VNC setting available for non-hvm DomU''s?
I have been scouring this list''s archives and have consumed any and all
how-to guides I could find but am still unsure. All discussion in this
list on this issue is around hvm/vti DomU''s. Has anyone been able to
attach a vnc client to a vanilla (non-hvm) DomU using the VNC console
setting?
On an FC5 (2.6.16-1.2080_FC5xen0) kernel deployed on vanilla (non-hvm)
hardware,
