Asterisk and MiniITX setups
How well do you think asterisk could run on a miniITX board like the ones
linked below with the call volume of say a small doctors office or
something?

7.1-PRERELEASE: asus M3A / Phenom X4 / powerd freeze
hello,
yet another powerd SOS : on an ASUS M3A78-EM MB with
Phenom 9750 and 8 gig memory, starting powerd freezes
the box after slowing down a bit cpu frequency.
[IMHO] usefull bit of info :

reshape speed improvement?
...filter the timevar) max. in a
246744 x 1444 data.frame with a lot of NA what could be set to 0.
Neverthless i didn't need really 1444 columns
(idependent's for data-mining) , but didn't getting
a finish reshape (for ~100 different values in timevar) since
saturday morning on a 1200MHZ Duron-512MB/ R.1.9.1 /Linux.
I check different min--vsize and min-nsize to control the swap, but it
doesn't help really?
An attempt do this in database with sql doesn't success, too - because
i recognize that's not trivial construct the columns
automatic/dynamic like reshape mak...

Asterisk on Zonbu, impact of transcoding
...t resist putting Asterisk on it just for fun. It may never see its
intended purpose.
The box costs US$249 (and was delivered 40 hours after being orderd!), but
you can get it for less if you subscribe to their service. I didn't.
The box is an Intel compatible processor (VIA Esther processor 1200MHz)
with 512mb ram and 4gb of cf for storage. It's silent because it has no
moving parts.
I installed CentOS 5.0, Asterisk 1.2.24, and Zaptel 1.2.21.
I started loading up calls using this call file from my dev box (P4
1.6ghz, 640mb ram):

[Bug 3186] New: Surprisingly large unshared memory usage
...;m
running Ubuntu Breezy, which has a 2.6 kernel) had copy-on-write fork semantics.
Is the essentially instantaneous inflation of the second rsync process
happening because of either the -H or the --link-dest, or is it a bug?
[This transfer also accumulates about an hour of CPU time on this Athon 1200MHz
CPU; I assume this is due to the expense of -H, and works out to about 1.5
milliseconds of processing per file, assuming I haven't goofed on the math; this
is about a million instructions (or 21000 non-cached memory fetches) per file.
I'd love it if this could be brought down, but I'm...

Avoiding users change permissions
Hi,
I finally set up samba 3 with ads, and acl support and everything works just great. The server is an AMD Duron 1200Mhz, 256Mb 266Mhz Ram, 2 ATA100 disks 10 Gb RAID1, 2 ATA133 200Gb RAID1 disks each one master on a separate ide port.
Forgive my english, it's my 17th consecutive hour at work and I'm pretty tired.
This server, that it's going to replace a win2k box, it's a fileserver, member of the act...

Echo on a PRI
Hi,
I recently set up the following in a production system (2.8 GHZ Xeon, 1 Gig
Memory, Dell 2650).
Telco - PRI - Asterisk - T1 - PBX
I am getting an occasional noticeable echo on some of the phone lines
(random inbound and outbound). Everyone I ask keeps telling me that I can't
be having echo since I am on a PRI, which is a digital circuit. Ok, so I
can't be having echo, but I am!

Motherboard for home zfs/solaris file server
Hello,
I am building a home file server and am looking for an ATX mother board
that will be supported well with OpenSolaris (onboard SATA controller,
network, graphics if any, audio, etc). I decided to go for Intel based
boards (socket LGA 775) since it seems like power management is better
supported with Intel processors and power efficiency is an important
factor. After reading several
