Problem with predict and lines in plotting binomial glm
...les are.
The data was overdispersed (the residual deviance is much larger than the residual degrees of freedom) therefore I am using the quasibinomial family, thus the y-variable is a matrix of successes and failures (20 trials for every sample, thus each y-variable row counts up to 20).

Font quality in base graphics
I am attempting to get publication quality graphs using R on Ubuntu. I
encounter lots of problems in using cex to control font size: for instance
cex=1.5 results in very blocky characters. I then tried to use res=1200
while creating a PNG file, hoping that this would solve the problem, but it
did not. When doing the above, a second problem appeared: the font size
relative to the graphics decreased drastically. e.g. png("t1.png", res=1200,
width=1200, height=1200). Is anyone prepared to give me a pointe...

Incorrect 'low battery' detected with Back-UPS XS 1200 (newhidups)
Hello All
I just discoverd NUT and I'm lovin' it. I was very successful getting
nut to monitor a CyberPower UPS along with having a Linux slave for a
friend of mine. I've come to a snag on my personal system though. I
currently have two Back-UPS XS 1200 APC UPSs, and I'm seeing
notifications of low battery on both units.
Now, both units are not showing 'low battery' on the physical units,
and they are definitely holding a charge. Also, I'm noticing that temp
is 'off'. I was wondering if someone can help me out with this pr...

Creating dummy vars with contrasts - why does the returned identity matrix contain all levels (and not n-1 levels) ?
...sion) - That is, if I get an HR of 3 for the
variable 300mg what does it mean ? the hazard is 3 times higher of what ?
Here is some code to reproduce the issue:
# Create a 4 level example factor
trt <- factor( sample( c("PLACEBO", "300 MG", "600 MG", "1200 MG"),
100, replace=TRUE ) )
# Use contrasts to get the identity matrix of dummy variables to be used in
glmnet
trt2 <- contrasts (trt,contrasts=FALSE)
Results (as you can see all levels are represented in the identity matrix):
