winbind/idmap issue on samba4 member server
...o EACH of my AD users in ADUC tool in the [UNIX Attribute] tab, is that correct? I just tried out. In ADUC tool I did choose "testuser3", and on the [UNIX Attribute] tab I activated the NIS domain so it reflects to "MYDOM". Then by default there was UID=10000, I modified that to 11111. After that, on DC1 "getent passwd testuser3" returned the new id 11111 for that user. And when I execute "getent passwd" on my member server, I get that particular testuser displayed correctly with UID=11111. GREAT! :-) To summarize: I gave testuser3 the UID=11111, which is wi...

Winbind - DUAL_SID2UID empty domain?
....5.2. NOTE: Domain, hostnames, usernames and SIDs have been changed to protect the guilty. I am seeing an unable to successfully execute a variety of lookups from wbinfo and I think this is the underlying cause of some other issues I am seeing. dnid support?
Hi all! I'm in the process of configuring an Asterisk server here that, based on which number was called, should send calls to different extensions: 913 - 11111 -> ext. 1 913 - 22222 -> ext. 2 913-11111 & 913-22222 being 2 (of the) numbers we have coming in to our system via our VoIP hosting provider. The config used here is based on Asterisk at home, so it includes also the dialparties.agi script. This script sees and identifies the correct dn...

hammering imap vmail storage
I've configured asterisk 1.4 to use imap storage for voice-mail and while I'm happy with it generally speaking it really seem to hammer the IMAP server. It appear, from the IMAP server logs that it's polling the imap server every *second* for mailbox updates for the users' voice-mail folders. Is it really necessary to do this once a second? Is this tunable anywhere? Thanx, b.

Read.fwf
Dear List I have a fixed width file with variables of varying width. The help is pretty transparent for this feature, but I can't seem to figure out how I can make effective use of the package with my data. In my dataset, the first 80 columns are of width 1 followed by other variables with width larger than 1. I think the correct way to do this, by brute force, would be >

Simple ways to test ssh tunnel
...y if not. The question is simple, *how to test simply a ssh tunnel ?* I just want to make sure the the tunnel i'm opening is letting information goes through it without problem, and I want to avoid any other point of failure when testing. for example let's say I run ssh -L 8080:localhost:11111 user at remote What command could I then use to use this tunnel as simply as possible, either on the client, the server or both. Thanks, Mathieu Westphal
