Network card full virtualized windows
Good morning, I installed on xen a windows XP and a Windows 2003 domU. Windows operating system does not know the real network card but it setup up an AMD pcnet card 10mbps. Is it possible to setup a full virtualized domU with a real network card ? I installed also windows on a trial xen enterprise and real network card seeems to work fine. What differences between xen and xen entrprise as far as network card is concerned ? Thanks Igna _______________________...

This is troubling. SIP hardware phones
I'm trying to understand why vendors keep making 100Mbps integrated 1-port switches in their hardware SIP phones. Even the recently-announced D40 and D50 Digium phones are limited to 100Mbps. Only the more expensive models (like the D70) can run at 1000Mbps. However, you can't expect a firm with hundreds of extensions to buy the most expensive model... And gigabit speed is important when

IPFW Bandwidth throttling?
I am trying to limit outgoing SMTP traffic to about 14 Mbps and these are the IPFW rules I am using. ${fwcmd} add pipe 1 tcp from 192.168.0.0/24 to any 25 out via dc0 ${fwcmd} pipe 1 config bw 14Mbit/s I've tried multiple tweaks to the pipe rule and I seem to be missing something. I only get about half the bandwidth I specify. Is this normal behavior? Is there something wrong

Either locally or across the network, freeamp and xmms prefetch a chunk, then play it, then fetch another chunk etc. No continuous streaming. shout gets a lot of !s between its "."s when sending the file to icecast. Re: 2.4.20 htb3 oops
Hi everyone, I am having problems with "oopses" since I introduced HTB on my company''s PC-based routers. It seems that only routers with high network load are affected. The average network load on the two most problematic routers are 10Mbps in/out and 2.5Mbps in/out. The other machines with less than 1Mbps average traffic seems unaffected. We have been getting oopses on these machines 1-3 times per week. We have tried to replace the hardware on both machines without any improvement. We are using the same combination of hardware and...

Oplocks - samba 2.2.4 & Windows 2000 server
In investigating some performance issues (elderly server with just 10Mbps ethernet), I noticed that smbstatus reported hardly any open files with oplocks. In particular files opened with Office 2000 & XP stay un-oplocked. I have checked and testparm claims oplocks are enabled and manual says this is so by default. The clients are all Windows 2000 servers - so we h...

network speed of network interfaces
Hello, I have detected a problem with my network interfaces in my xen servers. The problem I have is that snmp is reporting interfaces as 10Mbps, although they are connected at 1000Mbps. Nevertheless, the nic is working at 1000Mbps, because it reports traffic at more than 10Mbps. This is not a critical bug, but it is annoying, because we have scripts to monitor interfaces and create usage statistics that are not working because of this. D...

VoIP friendly Internet providers in Dallas and Philadelphia
Hi Everyone, My experience is only with the Canadian providers. What options/providers are there in Dallas and Philadelphia other than Verizon when it comes to internet? Something in the order of at least 10mbps down and up - I understand that and higher bandwidths are easily available in USA due to vast fiber networks? The connection will be replacing a T1 and will be support VPN connections to connect office for VoIP. Thanks -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:...

Problem with bandwidth
Hi all, Here is my setup: Host1 ---> Router ----> Host2 When i run ttcp -t on Host1 while ttcp -r in Host2, the bandwidth that i can get is about 860 Kbytes/s, which is less than 7Mbps. But i am using NIC 10Mbps for all machines. Why is that so? Currently, i am experimenting with the example efcbq. I am using MGEN (a UDP traffic generator) to send 2 flows of traffic (EF and BE) from Host1 to Host2. I allocate EF 3Mbit and BE 7Mbit in router. But using DREC (a receiver that comes with MGEN), i observ...
