Planning of next challenges for Firefox
...Chris Blizzard just suggested that with all the Xiph developers
attending the OpenVideoConference, we should all get together and
discuss the next things to attack for Ogg Theora/Vorbis in Firefox. I
think that's a great idea.
Assuming that everyone stays for the hackfest on Sunday, we picked
10am on Sunday for a thorough discussion and planning session (1-2
hours).
Also, we can open an irc channel and include those not present - we
were in particular thinking about Conrad and Chris Double, though the
time doesn't look like it's particularly suitable for you

Weird Secure log timestamp problem
...102 port 58017 ssh2
Mar 8 10:09:02 server123 sshd[6698]: Accepted password for root from
::ffff:10.10..161.102 port 58017 ssh2
This snippet is in order that it appears in the database. Notice the
timestamp. It starts off thinking it's almost 6pm then reverts th the
correct time of almost 10am, then to 6pm, then back to 10am and so on
and so forth.
Upon looking back even further, I can see that this has been happening
as far back as the secure logs go... Early February.
Checking through other machines, most seem to have this behavior, but
some do not. The machines I've updated u...

strptime - %p format doesn't seem to be working
Hi there,
Am I missing something? The "%p" format, which should match against
AM/PM, seems to be broken in R 2.3.1 running on Windows XP SP2. For
example, the following fails
> strptime("10AM", "%I%p")
[1] NA
whereas the this works as you would expect, but is ambiguous
> strptime("10", "%I")
[1] "2006-11-30 10:00:00"
Does this error reproduce on other machines, or is it something wrong
with my setup?
Cheers,
Edward

Flang landing in the monorepo - next Monday!
Hi All,
As discussed before Christmas, this is a reminder that we intend to
merge flang on the 13th January (next Monday) before the llvm-10 branch.
At the moment I'm proposing to do it at 10am GMT. I can be flexible on
this point if it requires close coordination with anyone in another
timezone, just let me know.
Previous discussion was in [llvm-dev] Flang landing in the monorepo

is it a bug or a feature? re:time zone differences, laptops, and suggestion for a new option
...back up some files from a WinXP laptop to a Linux
server. The two machines are in different time zones (8 hour
separation). It seems that rsync wants to do a full checksum on every
file
because it thinks their time stamps are different.
Example:
GMT is 9am, Local time (Netherlands) 10am, remote time
(Australia) 8pm
In this case, the file was created and copied to both machines with the
same timestamp (e.g. 8pm) when both machines were in the same timezone
(Australia). Then I changed countries with my laptop, and ran
rsync. After rsync, the remote (Linux) file has a new time...
