Need help figuring out "homes" share path

2TB raid array where I want to add personal shares so that everyone on
campus can have at least a couple of gigabytes of centrally managed

Here's my problem. When I execute the command "getent passwd" and just

I created an empty folder "/home/CATNET/rtanner" and made sure that it
is owned by CATNET\rtanner. I set the path in the homes share to

Real-Time Encoding/Streaming?
Hey.
I'm not sure if this should be here or on -dev, so I'll try here first.
I was wondering, would it be possible to have a real-time streaming feed,
where you were encoding at the same time, given a sufficiently large
computer to do the encoding?
I'm thinking about news-wire applications, like if the BBC wanted to use it
to stream their World News Wire, at the same time that

Suggestion!
Hey guys,
Keep up the goodwork! I have a suggestion...why not make Ogg Vorbis
streamable through QTSS or Darwin Streaming server. The people at
Apple are willing to incorporate it I'm sure. Would be nice to be able
to stream Ogg Vorbis from with QTSS or Darwin Server!! Lemme know what
you think!

Fraunhoffer claims patents on other formats
Here in the uk, to get a patent on anything, you have
to prove that the patent is not obvious and that there
is no prior art.
If there is prior art, then a patent cannot be given,
this is why people patenting stuff have to keep it a
secret until they actually have the patent, otherwise
it is considered to have been released into the public
domain.
Once something is in the public domain, nobody

TwinVQ versus The World
The last few threads have really been interesting. Technologies
that are currently on the market are MP3, RealAudio, and Windows
Media (pre-version8). Technologies currently in progress or
just shipped are Ogg Vorbis and mp3pro. I don't think anyone
has mentioned TwinVQ on this list. While exploring alternatives
to MP3 (which is when I also found Vorbis), I noticed TwinVQ. I

RTP/RTCP payload?
(hello all, this is my first writing. so please
bear with me if I'm wrong anywhere.)
orry to break too lately, but how is the RTP payload
submission is going?
could we see the new payload at March IETF?
I agree that it would be fairy straightforward to
make an RTP payload for ogg vorbis, assuming raw
packets, AFAIK. using physical bitstream is, in
this case, not adequate by the reasons in

Radio Button events
Hi,
I have observers for a group of radio buttons, an observe_field for each
radio button (I think its not possible to have one observe_field for a
group of radio buttons).
Now, the problem is that when I click on one radio button, all the
observers get trigerred, so the method which the observe_field calls
gets the wrong result. I just want that method to get the radio button

Vorbis over RTP
Hi.
I got bored of writing papers last week so I decided to write an app for
