Samba 2.0.4b Error reading file on 100bt only it seems...
...unning smbclient to an NT4 Sp4 workstation for testing. using tar c /some/local/dir using the default config except for machine name and workgroup in smb.conf I've tried tweaking the smb.conf to no avail. running on Redhat 6.0, but using samba 2.0.4b for the large filesystem patch... running on 100bt switched with 3c905B 100bt cards on both ends, but problem occurs to other 100bt systems as well. This is a FAT filesystem (no security) and no files are in use. It happens on every 100bt NT machine I try it on at different levels of load. The problem does not occur if the machine making query'...

Long logoff times - Win2k Client, Samba 2.2.2 PDC
Hi Folks: I am seeing excessively long logoff times on my Win2k clients - I am using Samba as a PDC. Excessively long == 6+ minutes. Network is 100BT switched. Total cable feet between client and server (including switch) - 10 foot. According to the switch, both machines are running at 100BT speed, full duplex. There is what appears to be a lot of network traffic between the client and the server going on during the logoff, but it shouldn'...

Samba Slow, and I have high Quality NICS
I have SLOW file transfers across samba to my Windows Server 2000 domain. I am using a built in 100bT Intel Pro NIC, I have tried the built in gigabit NIC and a PCI 3com, all with the same results. Using iperf, I get about 45-90Mb of bandwidth from my PC's to my samba server. I can pull it up by \\servername <file:///\\servername> or \\ipaddress <file:///\\ipaddress> with out an...

Best FXO hardware for home use
...I form factor port like the Digium TDM400 series. I have read horrible things about problems with the X100P, so I have ruled that out. The Sipura 3000 gives me the ability to get an FXO/FXS configuration that I can put anywhere in the network, which simplifies my wiring a bit (I'd rather push 100BT signals around than analog telephony), but I don't know how reliable it is in an FXO role compared to the TDM400. Am I missing another FXO hardware option that is even better? Also, does it matter if I am trying to use faxdetect on any of these ports in terms of which is a better interface?...

Crossed lines - a worrying problem.
...When Ann's call finished - mine went even fuzzier and all I could hear was computer and internet noises." The setup is: Asterisk box AMD Duron 1600, 256MB Slackware 10 Asterisk RC1 One 'Fritz!' ISDN card (fcpci/chan_capi) Four Grandstream BudgeTone 101 handsets It's a shared 100bT LAN with three PCs and a printer, no strenuous file copying etc. Network utilisation is very low. All the kit have 'real' IP addresses. Has anybody got any ideas what could possibly be causing this worrying problem? Cheers, Nick Barnes

serious networking (em) performance (ggate and NFS) problem
Dear best guys, I really love 5.3 in many ways but here're some unbelievable transfer rates, after I went out and bought a pair of Intel GigaBit Ethernet Cards to solve my performance problem (*laugh*): (In short, see *** below) Tests were done with two Intel GigaBit Ethernet cards (82547EI, 32bit PCI Desktop adapter MT) connected directly without a switch/hub and "device

error when popping mail over DSL
Hi, I have a user who is getting a strange error when popping his mail over a DSL line. The error in my log file is as follows: file client.c: line 237 (client_send_line): assertion failed: ((size_t)ret == str_len(str)) I can POP his mail just find here locally connected to the server via 100bT, but over his DSL link, he gets this error. His mailbox size is 24MB, and he is using outlook w/ the option 'leave a copy of messages on the server'. He has Outlook 2003 and we use Dovecot 1.0 test 42. Is there a timeout limit on the pop3 server? -- Jeff Ramsey MIS Administrator Tubafor...

slow read/writes to Samba share from Win98SE
Recently setup Samba on a RH Linux 6.1 box at home - network is 100bT - and printing /browsing works great. However reading or writing files of any size to the share seems overly slow. For instance a simple 1MB PNG file takes 20-30 seconds to load up. Of my local HD it's instant. Any ideas what could be causing this? I read through quite a few docs to ge...

Quick summary of Grandstream survey results
Here is a quick tally of the various things people asked for.. I'm going to go thru the list and weight the results based on my scale of 1-10. This is just a count of each "item", otherwords how many times that item came up. Some things I considered as bugs and lumped them as bug-fixes For the various requests for codec's I broke out which ones people where asking for.

How to RSYNC from eth1 on PDC-SRV to eth1 on BDC-SRV?
I currently have my /home directory kept in sync between my primary and backup domain controllers by using rsync --archive --checksum --update --delete pdc-srv:/home/ bdc-srv:/home/. I noticed that when this command is invoked, it tends to suck up the available bandwith to eth0 during the duration that the pdc is sending a large amount of data packets to the bdc. So what I would like to do

The Smallest Asterisk Server Ever?
Hello all, Saturday night, after a couple of shots of bourbon, I realized that I had an old PC sitting in the garage that I could use as an Asterisk gateway if I just blew the dust off it and reloaded it with a modern Linux distribution. In my characteristically impulsive manner, I grabbed it and started cleaning it up so that I could put it in my office without my wife having a fit. The
