zaptel and low ring voltage
Hi all,
Several months ago we built an * box with a quad-FXO tdm400p (REV e/f).
>From the get-go, there has been a problem where occasionally (2-3 times
a week) zaptel/* will not detect the ringing on a line. (The call will
ring through to telco voicemail).
The problem is not specific to a single line or FXO port on the tdm400p.
I have 2 theories:
#1 - the ring voltage for some calls is

dahdi-monitor in France
Hi,
I would like to tune rx/tx gains using dahdi-monitor for a system which will
be connected to french PSTN.
I'm not aware of any public phone number in France I could call to get a
"normalized 1004Hz signal".
My questions are :
1. Does such numbers exist ? Is there a directory somewhere listing some of
them ? Do you think regulations could make providing such numbers mandatory
for (some) Telcos ?
2. Does it make to use a number aboard instead if I can't find any local
ones ? I don...

Ztmonitor values when zap channel is onhook
Hello,
In my quest to figure out the source of the random echo on our shiny new
asterisk install, I have been using ztmonitor on the TDM400p channels
for the good part of today.
I have 2 TDM400p cards with 8 FXO modules and 6 pots lines connected to
them (last 2 channels are unused but configured in zaptel). Even when
the lines are onhook, the Tx values settle down to 0 but the Rx values
still

FW: [Asterisk-Users, Andrew] Will Echo problems EVER be solved, I'm scared
...g). I have disabled everything that
is not needed and I do not believe I have any IRQ problems and I am NEVER
wrong ;). Calls are crisp and clear. . No snap, crackle, pop. It would
be a beautiful thing if not for the echo.
To get the RX/TX levels, run "ztmonitor 1 -vv", dial a telco 1004hz 0dbm
test phone # and set the quantitative RX number to around 14500. With 2
lines (which I don't have) you test the TX level by looping out to the other
PSTN. Without a second line you do the simple ztmonitor test for the TX
levels.

Will Echo problems EVER be solved, I'm scared
I came into this with my eyes wide open. I have read ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING
there is to be found on the net about avoiding echo problems BEFORE I even
attempted to create a production system. Since lots of people are
apparently using this in production environments now I just assumed that
echo IS avoidable.
As others have recommended, I created a test system with the proposed
production
