Debian Squeeze server running 2 Ubuntu (Lucid) vms blows up under large NFS network load
...the client, which moves the file back and forth from the nfs share directory to a local directory. The virtual machines are stored on a remote SAN connected to by ISCSI and formatted in ocfs2. It is true I have had better luck with some ethernet cards than others. One of the boxes, running Intel 1000Mb cards (1 to the SAN/OCFS2, 1 to the outside world), runs the vms and the stress test without problems. But the other box, running a 1000Mb Realtek nic to the outside world and a 100Mb Realtek nic to the SAN, fails. The 100Mb nic was dropping packets to the SAN so I changed the SAN nic to the Real...

Bonding Eth interfaces - unexpeceted results
CentOS 6.2......... Why do the physical interfaces report (correctly) that they're negotiated at 1000Mb/s, but when I `cat /proc/net/bonding/bond0` I get 100Mbps for the member interfaces, and when I ` mii-tool bond0` I get 10Mbps for the bond? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ethtool em1 Settings for em1: Supported ports: [ TP ]...

Poor gluster performance on large files.
...is used for video editing and 300-400MB/s for at least 4 clients is minimum (currently a single windows client gets at least 700/700 for a single client over samba, peaking to 950 at times using blackmagic speed test). Gluster has been getting me as low as 200MB/s when the server can do well over 1000MB/s. I have really been counting on / touting Gluster as being the way of the future for us. However I can't justify cutting our performance to a mere 13% of non-gluster speeds. I've started to reach a give up point and really need some help/hope otherwise I'll just have to migrate the...

R-help Time Series
...g in the R-help archives yesterday, I got curious about the time series of the sizes of the monthly archives in MB. This turned out to have an unexpected feature or two, which I leave to readers to explore for themselves. I'm now wondering at what point in time we might expect to be receiving 1000MB/month (30+MB/day). It's not that far away, it seems, but there are a couple of interesting modelling questions behind it. In particular, I wonder by what mechanism the numbers grow, according to the law which the data seem to indicate. Over to you. (just my 0.001 MB worth ... excluding heade...

Slow network
...'s about 8 to 10 times faster. So the problem is likely to be with the CentOS config. Any suggestion on how to track down the problem with speed. I have checked the packets with wireshark, no problem. Samba 4 fileserver perfomance
Hello, Am 03.05.2015 um 17:38 schrieb ????????? ????????: > Thank you for your time. What network did you test it? > 100Mb or 1000Mb? I'm using 1Gbit here at home. With a 100Mbit connection it wouldn't be possible to reach transfer rates of 110MB/Sec. A realistic good transfer rate for a 100Mbit connection is just around 11 MB/Sec. Regards, Marc

How to import the large data into R

However, the amount number of SNP data are 45181, amount numbers of animal are 3081,it can not be allocated 1000Mb memory when i importing them to R Procedure sentence show: m<-matrix(scan("D:/SNPdata.txt"),ncol=nmarkers,byrow=TRUE) Error show: Error: cannot allocate vector of size 1000.0 Mb Is there any way to import these data and calculations, i am very anxious. Thank you very much. Best...

mboot.c32/Xen compatible
Hello all, I'm new on the list and hope this question isn't out of order. I'm booting Xen with mboot.c32 but with 100mb/s cards. I want to upgrade to 1000mb/s. I haven't got the biggest budget to trial and error new network cards so I'd like to buy the right card first time. I think this can be a bit tricky from 100mb/s card experience. A 3c905CX-TXM (03-0247-000 E) wouldn't boot but a 3c905CX-TX-M (03-0287-001 E) would. Could someone ple...

Gigabit Ethernet with multiple VLAN's or Fast Ehternet and with two separate cards?
Hello everyone. What's better for Asterisk: have 2 distinct 100Mb network cards in the system, one on the "internet" and one on the "local net" OR have one 1000Mb network card with 2 separate VLAN's set up? It's a difficult decision because 2 cards are using 2 IRQ's etc but a single 1000Mb card might generate more PCI interrupts and get me into different kinds of problems. I'm leaning towards the gigabit card because my switch supports it...

Can this box handle 8 T1s (PSTN) with Asterisk?
Hi all, I am handed a project to setup *. The requirement is that it can handle 8 T1s. Half of the calls coming into the system will be routed to SIP extensions (with transcoding). The machine we have in our disposal is a new dual Xeon 3.2gHz server with 2g of ram and an dual 1000mb nic. Voice will be coming in from the PSTN (through 2 quad digium cards) in g711ulaw, and most of the time will be doing IVR with dtmf detection. Half of the calls will eventurally got routed to sip extensions and the requirement calls for keeping the bandwidth to a minimum; so we force all the sip...

Samba Win2k problem
I have a samba server version 2.2.7a-8.9.0 running on RedHat 9.0. It is acting as a domain controller. I have some win2k clients logging in to this domain and mapping home shares, shared drives, etc. The network the servers are on is 1000Mb and the client networks are all 100Mb. The client networks are linked via 1000Mb uplink. The problem I'm having is that when a user copies a fair number of files (197 files equalling 34 MB in this case) from a mapped share J: to another directory on that same share, about 3/4 of the way thro...

UDP Perfomance tuning

The maximum we could get, was 440 Mbits/sec, and it varies from 250 to 440 Mbits/sec. We are connected on a 1000Mb/s link, we also tested the same using a cross-over connections between the two machines, but the same performance. We also see a lot of dropped UDP packets. Network issue - Windows works but CentOS does not
...ng online led me to people saying it ought to be enabled anyway as a standard requires it for gigabit. When the network guys enabled autoneg; it started working in Linux. I am wondering if I'm facing the same issue here, as I see ethtool saying: Advertised auto-negotiation: No Speed: 1000Mb/s I tried doing some ethtool settings (setting autoneg off and forcing 1000, other random options, etc) but it didn't help; but possibly I was trying the wrong things. I am not very familiar with HP blades; but it seems I cannot enable Autoneg for this blade (?); I do not have direct access...
