how to convert a data.frame to a list of dist objects for individual differences MDS?
I have a 45 x 16 data frame consisting of dissimilarities among 10 colors, giving in each column the 45 = 10*9/2 pairwise judgments for one of 16 subjects. The rownames identify each pair of colors, e.g, "AC" = ("A","C"), and the pairs are ordered by columns in the lower triangle of each distance matrix. > helm.raw <-

[LLVMdev] issues registering passes in osx 10.8
Hi everyone, This is Ashwin. I have a mac running osx 10.8. I am new to LLVM and have the version 3.1 installed. I am trying to get some LLVM transform passes running on my machine. After having compiled the LLVM source without making changes to the configuration files I am able to run the LLVM gcc and clang. But I am having some trouble using the passes. I tried loading the hello pass inside the

Issue with Mavericks Mail Client
We run a dovecot mailserver. One of the clients I use is a Mac Laptop. Recently I upgraded from Mountain Lion (10.8) to Mavericks (10.9). Under 10.8 it worked fine. On 10.9 it syncs up when I invoke the client, but after a while stops getting updates. Most of my mail clients are on Linux (thunderbird) or Android (K9) and I admit that several run against my very large INBOX simultaneously. The

Standardized residual variances in SEM
Hello, I'm using the "sem" package to do a confirmatory factor analysis on data collected with a questionnaire. In the model, there is a unique factor G and 23 items. I would like to calculate the standardized residual variance of the observed variables. "Sem" only gives the residual variance with the "summary" function, or the standardized loadings with the

Hello, I have a matrix (class matrix) composed of GridCell (row and column). The matrix value is the beta diversity index value between two grids. Now I would like to get the average value of each GridCell. Please kindly advise how to make the calculation. Thank you. Elaine The matrix looks like (cited from Michael Friendly) I would like to get the average value of each color. Obs

Rounding and printing
Hello, I am trying to print a table with numbers all rounded to the same number of digits (one after the decimal), but R seems to want to not print ".0" for integers. I can go in and fix it one number at a time, but I'd like to understand the principle. Here's an example of the code. The problem is the 13th element, 21 or 21.0: >nvb_deaths <- round(ss[,10]/100,digits=1)

list multiplied by a factor / mapply
Dear list, this works fine: x <- split(iris, iris$Species) x1 <- lapply(x, function(L) transform(L, g = L[,1:4] * 3)) but I would like to multiply each Species with another factor: setosa by 2, versicolor by 3 and virginica by 4. I've tried mapply but without success. Any thoughts? Thanks for any idea! Patrick

[LLVMdev] [cfe-dev] [Reminder] LLVM 3.4 Release Branching
Jack, Where do the "-isysroot /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/MacOSX.platform/Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.8.sdk -mmacosx-version-min=10.8" flags come from? I don't see them in your CMake invocation - perhaps they're added via $CC or $CFLAGS? Is this being done on purpose? I can add a CMake step checking whether the current CFLAGS/LDFLAGS allow to build an
