lines, ecdf and colors
Hi. I'm trying to plot two ecdf's on the same graph using two different colors. I can plot using the same color, but it doesn't work when I change colors? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help. x <- c(0.80, 0.83, 1.89, 1.04, 1.45, 1.38, 1.91, 1.64, 0.73, 1.46) y <- c(1.15, 0.88, 0.90, 0.74, 1.21) plot(ecdf(x)) # it works without col='blue', but doesn't

(no subject)
Hi all I am trying to generate a normal unbalanced data to estimate the coefficients of LM, LMM, GLM, and GLMM and their standard errors. Also, I am trying to estimate the variance components and their standard errors. Further, I am trying to use the likelihood ratio test to test H0: sigma^2_b = 0 (random effects variance component), and the t-test to test H0:mu=0 (intercept of the model Yij = mu

pvcreate limitations on big disks?
OK folks, I'm back at it again. Instead of taking my J4400 ( 24 x 1T disks) and making a big RAID60 out of it which Linux cannot make a filesystem on, I'm created 4 x RAID6 which each are 3.64T I then do : sfdisk /dev/sd{b,c,d,e} <<EOF ,,8e EOF to make a big LVM partition on each one. But then when I do : pvcreate /dev/sd{b,c,d,e}1 and then pvdisplay It shows each one as

Using subset to filter data table
I am having difficulty understanding how I would constrain a data set by filtering out 'records' based on certain criteria. Using SQL I could query using 'select * from my.data where LithClass in ('sand', 'clay')' or some such. Using subset, there seem to be ghosts left behind (that is, all of the LithClass *.Labels* remain after subset) > dput(tcc)

HELP! Excel and R give me totally different regression results using the exact same data
Hallo, I am totally confused why Excel and R give me totally different regression results for the data below. If you know the solution, please enlighten me. In Excel I used LINEST() and Data>Data Analysis>Regression and both (fortunately) gave the same result. The coefficients were: /b0=1.16, b1=0.957, b2=0.024, R2=0.0027, adjusted R2=-0.017/ In R I used

writing to a fixed format (fortran) file
Could anyone help with what should be a simple task? I have data as a fixed format (fortran) table. I have no trouble getting it into R using read.table. Each column is separated by a space, including the first column that begins with a space, and aligned. It reads into R as if separated by tabs. However I want to manipulate two columns of data then write the results out into exactly the

Read multiple files into dataframe?
Hello, I am fairly new to R programming and am stuck with the following problem. I am trying to read in multiple files (see attached file or at end of email), the files all have the same general header information and different precipitation (avgppt) and area (areasqmi) values. Some times the number of records are different in the files. I want to read in all files (.stdsummary), and create

Possible bug in pxelinux 1.70 & 1.71
Hi! We've been trying to use pxelinux to boot the Intel D815EGEW board (a sub ATX board). I've discovered what appears to be a bug in pxelinux. pxelinux versions up to 1.67 work fine, but pxelinux 1.70 and 1.71 don't. When it fails it shows this on the screen Intel Base-Code, PXE-2.1 (build 083) [loading kernel etc] Loading ready. Failed to free base memory, sorry...

spikes in contour and persp (PR#327)
The following matrix of normed likelihoods should give a smooth surface but instead gives a series of spikes in both persp and contour (the dim labels are the axes values). I know an algorithm cannot be infallible but it would be nice to have some parameters to control the smoothing. (It takes close to an hour to produce this matrix on a Pentium II 300mh. It was after that that it crashed with the

Misbehavior with Dovecot and Mulberry
I'm having a bit of misbehavior wherein Dovecot seems to refuse to cooperate with my Mulberry MUA. By and large, everything works great. I can move mail back and forth happily. I can compose a note and copy the outgoing mail to my Dovecot "Sent" folder using my default Mulberry settings. But if I reply or forward a mail, I get a Mulberry error popup saying that it

the tag Obsoletes: in spec files
How exactly to use the tag "Obsoletes:" in a spec file ? I need to offer texlive to users on Centos-5.6, so I packaged it (based on a Mandriva src.rpm), and that works. But I want rpm to *replace* tetex by texlive, instead of just adding texlive, when users do a : $ yum install texlive (we have a local repo here). So I added this line in texlive.spec : Obsoletes: tetex and of
