plain source -> encrypted destination: rsync + gpg
...nd sent over? Are there other alternatives? (hopefully more elegant than maintaining a shadow copy of all the files!). There's an "GPG and Rsync" thread describing almost exactly what we want <http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&threadm=adkpb7%242t6v%241%40FreeBSD.csie.NCTU.edu.tw&rnum=1&prev=/groups%3Fhl%3Den%26lr%3D%26ie%3DUTF-8%26q%3Drsync%2Bencrypted%26spell%3D1> And also rsync-backup seems to be almost there -- but things seem to be happening at the server end. http://www.stearns.org/rsync-backup/ cheers, martin

set_thread_buffer error
...000f I get the same error when trying to run 'wine' at the prompt. I've got Zipslack, kernel 2.4.9, libc 6.2.2 . I've tried the solution posted elsewhere on this NG but it doesn't work. Win XP Pro / Linux PDC
Hi all, I'm trying to configure Samba as a PDC. I'm running Debian Woody, hence Samba version 3.0.0final-1. We have no Windows servers anywhere on the network (yay!). I have done an smbpasswd for root, and add machine script is setup (see attached smb.conf). From the XP Pro workstation, when I fill in the domain name, log in as root, and click ok, I eventually get: "The following error occurred...

PC-Pine "Junk in end of group"
I am running PC-Pine under Windows XP, connecting via SSL to a Dovecot IMAP server (0.99.10-2 under Debian woody). When I open a mail folder (mbox format) in Pine I get the following non-fatal error: [Junk in end of group: pn=undisclosed-recipients al= dn=] A similar error was reported to comp.mail.pine as happening with a Lotus Domino server. Mark Crispin explained it as a server-side...

rsync's "value to large" error.
HI, I'm trying to transfer a list of files within a filesystem to another filesystem. I've used the option: # rsync -avzol --progress /wp05/global/FCSI/WP_RLS05/rundir/ /nfs_proj/global/WP/ However, it had produced the error below: building file list ... global/FCSI/WP_RLS05/rundir/wp_celtic_max_fullwarn.tcl.log: Value too large to be stored in data type # du -sk wp_celtic_max.tcl.log

security = server & Win2k PDC
Hi, I'm having a problem with the smbd process losing its connection to the password server. Smbd can successfully authenticate a user upon initial connection. Then after some time (within a matter of 10-20 minutes) if the user tries to use the mapped drive, he sometimes gets prompted with an authentication dialog box. Nothing that is typed into this box will be accepted, and the user cannot use the mapped drive. This seems to only occur on Citrix servers where multiple users are connecting...

winbind joining wrong AD domain?
...mba to properly join the AD domain. Printing works perfectly, and AD authentication is also working, after manually configuring /etc/krb5.conf (the significance of this point wasn't discovered until later). However, the print queues on the test system refuse to stay listed in AD for more than 10-20 minutes at a time, which was particularly confusing until I (somewhat accidentally) noticed that querying the domain users or groups via wbinfo would cause the queues to be relisted. Further investigation, including digging through packet dumps, uncovered the following: - Joining the domain o...

Please test rsync-2.5.6pre2
...file; the public key is available on the pgp keyservers. This is a release candidate. If no-one reports an urgent fixes within the next few days, it will probably become version 2.5.6. Known issues that will probably not get resolved before the release unless a volunteer provides a solution: 1. The NetBSD i386 port is failing the chgrp test. See build output on build.samba.org. 2. I just noticed that the cygwin chgrp test has timestamps off by two seconds. Maybe --modify-window is supposed to be 1? Changes since 2.5.5pre1: ENHANCEMENTS: * Set the default value of --m...
