Why using hypercall_page ?
Hello,
I am studing Xen hypercall now. I found that hypercall is invoked via
hypercall_page, which is only filled with (in
no-hypervisor-kernel-mode ):
mov $i, %eax
int $0x82
ret
Why not invoked the hypercall directly by "int $0x82" ? What''s the
advantage of using hypercall_page?
Thanks,
Wu

URGENT: REDHAT 6.1 STORES SAMBA PRIVATE FILES IN /etc
dear redhat,
i examined a friend's system today, to help him configure it. assuming
that he just "installed" from scratch the samba package, it appears that
you have provided a default smb.conf file for redhat 6.1 that puts samba
private configuration files in /etc. the suggested options, for example
show "smbpasswd file = /etc/smbpasswd".
this is REALLY bad.

Header packet multiplicity
...a lot more. Of
> course, it may not be significant for an uncompressed text codec.
there's also the possibility of having a marker in the first byte to
say whether its a header packet or not, kinda like how vorbis and
theora start their header packets with (0x1, 0x3, 0x5,) and (0x80,
0x81, 0x82) respectively ... and then make sure not to start data
packets that way. That does make it a little dirty for a text codec
though as you always have to check/skip the first byte of your data
packets.
Conrad.
