P2Vs seem to require a very robust Ethernet
Now that we can gather diagnostic info, I think I know why our P2Vs kept
failing last week. Another one just died right in front of my eyes. I
think either the Ethernet or NFS server at this site occasionally
"blips" offline when it gets busy and that messes up P2V migrations.
The RHEV export domain is an NFS share offered by an old Storagetek NAS,
connected over a 10/100 Ethernet.

problem mounting ocfs2: heartbeat
When attempting to mount the OCFS2 file system I'm getting the
following error message:
ocfs2_hb_ctl: Internal logic failure while starting heartbeat
mount.ocfs2: Error when attempting to run /sbin/ocfs2_hb_ctl:
"Operation not permitted"
I followed the steps given in the users_guide:
modprobe ocfs2_dlmfs
mount -t configfs none /config
mount -t ocfs2_dlmfs none /dlm

Name mangling bug: was samba bug?
Hi James,
this sounds familiar - I believe I looked at a wire trace,
and windows is dropping the trailing dots BEFORE it sends the
request over the wire. so samba never sees the name foo..., thus
does not create it.

Using log() on an openMosix cluster
Hi all, I was hoping to get some advice about a problem that I realize
will be difficult to reproduce for some people. I'm running R 1.7.1 on
an openMosix (Linux) cluster and have been experiencing some odd
slow-downs. If anyone has experience with such a setup (or a similar
one) I'd appreciate any help. Here's a simplified version of the problem.
I'm trying to run the

More about Accounting
I should also mention that Accounting rules are not stateful -- each rule
only handles traffic in one direction.
So for example, if eth0 is your internet interface and you have a web
server in your DMZ connected to eth1 then to measure HTTP traffic in both
directions requires two rules:
DONE eth0 eth1 tcp 80
DONE eth1 eth0 tcp - 80
Associating a counter with a chain allows for aggregation.

too.

Inbox inside the mail location

Also... Thanks for this great IMAP server! I migrated many moons ago,
beginning with some 0.9x version I don't exactly recall, and it just
works. Migration has been a smooth experience too, and I haven't had any
issue yet.

dovecot loading during boot
I have two RHEL4 email servers running postfix/MailScanner which use
dovecot. They work great. But during bootup the nfslock script in my
init.d loads rpc.statd and calls portmap to get a port number. Portmap
keeps giving rpc.statd the imaps port number (993). I then have to stop my
mail server services, manually start dovecot, then restart the mail server
services and everything goes merrily on

New Python API? (was: Re: About the return value of value_value)
...current implementation, Python 3 bytes (Python 2 strings) are treated
as plain bytes(*). That is fine, but Unicode is not handled correctly. This
might also be an opportunity to treat Unicode strings as UTF-16 (LE) strings
which must be nul-terminated. So u'Bar' should become b'B\0a\0r\0\0\0'.
(*) Actually, Hivex 1.3.10 is broken in Python 3 and tries to convert all
strings from UTF-8 to bytes and segfaults on other input which does not work
for UTF-16 strings[0].

Mount drbd/gfs logical volume from domU
Hi list,
I setup on 2 Xen Dom0s drbd/gfs a logical volume, this works as primary/primary so both DomUs will be able to write on them at the same time. But I dont know how to mount them from my domUs, I can see them with fdisk -l. The partition is /dev/xvdb1
SHould I install gfs on domUs and mount them on each as gfs partitions?
[root@p3x0501 ~]# fdisk -l
Disk /dev/xvda: 5368 MB, 5368709120

Possible? Or am I out of luck?
