How? I downloaded two (larger) of the three Centos 7 ISOs I could

or mediawriter to put a copy on a 16 GB thumb drive seems to work. But
then the laptop reports, "no boot image found". Note that the first 32 KB
of the iso is all zeros, meaning that there is no MBR or partition table
included.
According to the 0_README.txt on the CentOS mirrors, the Everything ISO,

used for installing or populating a local mirror. This image needs a
16GB USB flash drive as it is too large for DVD isos... You can burn

Depending on the age of the laptop, booting from USB sticks over 8 GB may
not be possible. Larger usb images I believe use a different layout format
(GPT?) which also may not work with older hardware. I would try a smaller
one first and see if that works.

Installing CentOS - user feedback
A few days ago I got email from a user who was attempting to install
CentOS. I've included their full message below, but, to summarize, when
one clicks on the "CentOS Linux" link on the front page of centos.org
one is given a matrix of choices, and no guidance. On choosing one
option - say, x84_64 ISO, one is then given another list of options and
no guidance. Pick one of

Down C6 ALL without torrent ?
Hi,
I have a machine with a BIOS that does not permit DVD installation. It
accepts everything else including some old superseded media types.
Is it possible to download C6 combined parts 1 and 2 not using Torrent ?
I have an aversion to using anything that comes from unknown sources, as
used by Torrent.
Thank you.

In order to conserve donor bandwidth, and to make it possible to get the
mirror content sync'd out as soon as possible, we recommend using
torrents to get your initial installer images:
Details on the images are available on the mirrors in a file called
0_README.txt next to the isos. That file clearly highlights the
difference in the images, and when one might be more suitable than the
others.

Installing CentOS - user feedback
...by the arch community. THAT is how things should be
done, from my point of view. And, with all due respect, I mean that as
opposed to access.r.c and www.r.c which are awful to navigate unless you
know exactly what you want.. and sometimes not even then.

PS: I created the very very first 0_README.txt file that is now included
in the isos/$ARCH folder. A file which usually is ignored for the simple
reason that end users almost never reach it but whose content should be
published BEFORE the users attempt to download an iso.
