Placing a column name in a variable XXXX
Hi everyone, How does one place an object name (in this case a vector name) into another object (while essentially masking the values of the first object? For example: > JOBSAT<-rnorm(40) > > CI<-function(x,alpha){ + result<-cbind(x,mean=mean(x),alpha) + print(result) + } > CI(JOBSAT,.05) I want this to return: Variable mean alpha JOBSTAT 0.02844131 0.05

Puzzled with contour()
Folks, The contour() function wants x and y to be in increasing order. I have a situation where I have a grid in x and y, and associated z values, which looks like this: x y z [1,] 0.00 20 1.000 [2,] 0.00 30 1.000 [3,] 0.00 40 1.000 [4,] 0.00 50 1.000 [5,] 0.00 60 1.000 [6,] 0.00 70 1.000 [7,] 0.00 80 0.000 [8,] 0.00 90

Help with if statements
Hi I am trying to create a column in a data frame which gives a sigificane score from 0-7. It should read values from 7 different colums and add 1 to the counter if the value is <=0.05. I get an error message saying Error in if (ALLRESULTS[i, 16] <= 0.05) significance_count = significance_count + : missing value where TRUE/FALSE needed The script is included below it works if i

How to draw different series for different groups in xyplot
Hi guys, I got a problem when I was trying to use lattice to do some plot. Below is one working example which can generate one curve for A and one curve for B in each subplot. However, I would like to just show the points for B, not connecting the dots. As for A, I still want a curve (dots are connected). Is there any people having any suggestions. Data are attached. Thanks a lot, --Jerry

Lattice : Single reference line/label at 0.05
r-friends-- I am trying to make a lattice plot with a single label at 0.05. A reference line at y=0.05 as well... This is what I have so far. The label reads 0.0 and there is a grid instead of a single reference line. Can someone help please? Speed up code with for() loop
Hallo everybody, I'm wondering whether it might be possible to speed up the following code: Error<-rnorm(10000000, mean=0, sd=0.05) estimate<-(log(1.1)-Error) DCF_korrigiert<-(1/(exp(1/(exp(0.5*(-estimate)^2/(0.05^2))*sqrt(2*pi/(0.05^2))*(1-pnorm(0,((-estimate)/(0.05^2)),sqrt(1/(0.05^2))))))-1)) D<-100000 Delta_ln<-rep(0,D) for(i in 1:D)

"subscript out of range" message
Hi All: I was recently working with a dataset on arsenic poisoning. Among the variables in the dataset, I used the following three variables to produce crosstabulations (variable names: FOLSTAT, GENDER, ASBIN; all three were categorical variables, FOLSTAT denoted follow up status for the subjects and had seven levels, GENDER denoted sex (two levels: male,female), and ASBIN denoted binarized

Please help me to produce smoothed contour plots
Please help me to produce smoothed contour plots. I have dependent data generated at regular intervals of two independent variables and would like to produce smoothed contour plots - I cannot get interp (alima) to produce cubic interpolations of the data, only linear ones. I'm interested in smoothing as the data generation process is stochastic and produces small variations which I'd

Irregular 3d objects with rgl
Hello, While exploring if rgl is along the lines of what I need, I checked out demo("rgl") and didn't find quite what I'm looking for, and am therefore seeking additional help/suggestions. Check value interval in a if loop
Hi R community I have a little problem, and I tried to solve it by myself but I couldn't. I building an if loop, and I want to check a value inside an interval. This would be the case: pvalue=0,2999 if(pvalue>0.05 or pvalue<0.1) as you can see I would like to check in that if loop if my pvalue is inside of that interval(from 0.05 to 0.1), and I tried these options: if(pvalue>0.05

Bug in "seq" (or a "feature") ?
(I use R 2.9.1 with win XP) If I run this code: seq(-0.1,.9, by = .05)[seq(-0.1,.9, by = .05) <= 0.5] I get this output: [1] -0.10 -0.05 0.00 0.05 0.10 0.15 0.20 0.25 0.30 0.35 0.40 0.45 Why is 0.50 not in the results ? Histogram
Hello, I am using the following codes to plot a histogram and density line for x. For the density line, I just want it to show the two tails, eg, for x larger than 0.05 ans smaller than -0.05 hist (x, seq(-0.1,0.1,0.01),freq = FALSE) lines (density(x,bw="SJ"), x> 0.05 & x< (-0.05), col = "red") But is does not work, can anyone give me some advice? -- View this
