Re: High pitched whine with Speex
When I just copy the microphone input buffer to the output buffer the
sound plays OK. But if I encode and decode the buffer through Speex I
get a high pitched constant tone in the background. I actually do hear
my voice speaking when I talk, but it's faint and much quieter than the
tone.
Here's what my data looks like:
Input is the first 5 floats of each input buffer.
Output is

How to find series of small numbers in a big vector?
Hello:
I have a vector with 120,000 reals
between 0.00000 and 0.9999
They are not sorted but the vector index is the
time-order of my measurements, and therefore
cannot be lost.
How do I use R to find the starting and ending
index of ANY and ALL the "series" or "sequences"
in that vector where ever there are 5 or more
members in a row between 0.021 and 0.029 ?

Re: High pitched whine with Speex
Changing from using floats to shorts did fix the high pitched tone
problem. I'm having other problems but I'll look into it more first.

Sadly you failed to set your email program to send plain text and the data is corrupted at my end.
I also think you need to reduce the size of the data set... the intent here is to increase your understanding, not debug your particular analysis.
I will say that I am having a very challenging time understanding what you are trying to accomplish though. What are the equations that you think need

OK, Let's try this again! Here is the reproducible script; it is long because I had to copy the panel dataset here. My question is related to systemfit; I don't know how to get the result for the entire panel.

pairwise.t.test vs t.test
Dear all, I am perplexed when trying to get the same results using pairwise.t.test and t.test.
I'm using examples in the ISwR library,
>attach(red.cell.folate)
I can get the same result for pairwise.t.test and t.test when I set the variances to be non-equal, but not when they are assumed to be equal. Can anyone explain the differences, or what I'm doing wrong?
Here's an example

No
puedo abreviar la palabra porque justamente me rechazaron el grafico por
que estaba abreviada esa palabra.
Aqui pego el codigo con el que se hacen los graficos y anexo un archivo

Problem with fPortfolio
Hello,
I hesitate to call this a bug, because I could have forgotten something
important, but the MarkowitzPortfolio example in fPortfolio does not work
for me. Here's my code:

... and the mailing list is picky about attachments... whatever you attached did not conform to the stringent requirements mentioned in the Posting Guide. Pasting the code right into the email is usually safest, though you DO have to post using plain text (as the Posting Guide indicates) or your code may get mangled by the automatic html format removal.

Multiple Comparisons-Kruskal-Wallis-Test: kruskal{agricolae} and kruskalmc{pgirmess} don't yield the same results although they should do (?)
Hi there,
I am doing multiple comparisons for data that is not normally distributed.
For this purpose I tried both functions kruskal{agricolae} and
kruskalmc{pgirmess}. It confuses me that these functions do not yield the
same results although they are doing the same thing, don't they? Can anyone
tell my why this happens and which function I can trust?
kruskalmc() tells me that there are no

Unless there is good reason not to, always cc the list -- there are lots of
smarter folks than I on it who can help.
I may or may not have time to look at this. Hopefully someone else will.

unable to force the vector format
Dear all,
I am so ashamed to pollute the list with a trivial question, but it is a
long time I have not used R, and I need a result in the next one or two
hour...
I have a table which I have loaded with read.table, and I want to make
the mean of its columns.

monthly median in a daily dataset
Hello,
I have a multi-year dataset (see below) with date, a data value and a flag
for the data value. I want to find the monthly median for each month in this
dataset and then plot it. If anyone has suggestions they would be greatly
apperciated. It should be noted that there are some dates with no values and
they should be removed.
Thanks

Adding info from summary(lm(...)) to plot
Hi Folks,
Say I have 2 continuous variables X,Y.
I can of course plot (X,Y) with
plot(X,Y,pch="+",col="blue")
say, and add the regression line from lm(Y~X)
by extracting the coefficients 'a' of Intercept
and 'b' of X from Y.lm <- lm(Y~X).
Now, however, I want to have not only a general
explanatory title such as

Formatted Data File Question for Clustering -Quickie Project
I am trying to learn how to format Ascii data files for scan or read
into R.
Precisely for a quickie project, I found some code (at end of this
email) to do exactly what I need:
To cluster and graph a dendrogram from package (stats).
I am stuck on how to format a text file to run the script.
I looked at the dataset USArrests (which would be replaced by my data
and labels) using UltraEdit. That
