I think I could not make myself understood. Since I could not connect with my samba share and the programs were looping or crashing, I decided to activate the logs on the samba server and set it to 3. I then started to see all these notification requests. So what I understand is that the clients are sending tons of these notification requests to the server. This was not happening before. I do not have specific client log because Windows10 apps do not store so many logs and File.app on the iPhone may write logs somewhere but I don't know how to get them. Anyway I captured packets with Wireshark and got the logs from the samba server and I see that the problem is triggered by this mechanism. If I tell the samba server not to respond to these notifications, everything works fine. My question is why the clients started sending such requests? And how can I stop them from doing so? It's not a Windows problem because Apple apps have the same issue, so I believe this is a server issue... -----Original Message----- From: samba <samba-bounces at lists.samba.org> On Behalf Of Rowland penny via samba Sent: luned? 11 maggio 2020 17:04 To: sambalist <samba at lists.samba.org> Subject: Re: [Samba] Clients send tons of Notiftication requests On 11/05/2020 15:38, Luca Marceglia wrote:> Well, > The log below actually came from a log level set to 3, but then I revertedit back to 0 as I did not want to keep debugging my SMB connection. Then leave it at '0' and you will not see the messages ;-) I do not think that the messages have anything to do with your real problem, which seems to be coming from your clients. Has anything changed on the clients ? is there anything in their logs ? You need to find out why the clients have started sending so many notifications. Rowland

Therefore I assume this was not happening in the past>> I do not have specific client log because Windows10 apps do not store so >> many logs and File.app on the iPhone may write logs somewhere but I don't >> know how to get them. >> Anyway I captured packets with Wireshark and got the logs from the samba >> server and I see that the problem is triggered by this mechanism. >> If I tell the samba server not to respond to these notifications, everything >> works fine. >> >> My question is why the clients started sending such requests? You need to find out why the clients have started sending so many notifications.[LM] I have no idea where to start from. Additionally, it?s strange that all of a sudden, two Windows applications and one Apple application all decide to start sending these requests at the same time... But if you can tell me where or how I can start looking for this issue, that would help me a lot.> Rowland > > > > -- > To unsubscribe from this list go to the following URL and read the > instructions: https://lists.samba.org/mailman/options/samba
