No dice :( removed as suggested updated unit file looks like this [Unit] Description=KKonnect KHIPU-NETWORKS Service After=syslog.target network.target [Service] Environment=KRB5CCNAME=FILE:/run/samba/krb5cc_samba Type=notify NotifyAccess=all ExecStart=/usr/local/samba/sbin/winbindd ExecReload=/usr/bin/kill -HUP $MAINPID LimitCORE=infinity [Install] WantedBy=multi-user.target I had lifted the unit file from an rpm install of samba from fedora.
