[Samba] Hyper-V Virtual Machines fail to start on Samba shares
First thing I do when setting up a new workstation: sudo apt purge avahi-daemon avahi-autoipd sudo apt autoremove Mike E. I would also like to point out that I am not spreading, as you put it 'FUD'. I am only saying what I have found by trying Fedora 24, there is even a bug report for the problem I found: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1350450 Lets be honest, what ever software I use, it shouldn't force me to change how I set common things like /etc/resolv.conf. This is getting out of hand and really has nothing to do with Samba, so I suggest we agree to disagree. Rowland

I am only saying what I have found by > trying Fedora 24, there is even a bug report for the problem I found: > > https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1350450you are spreading FUD proven by 30 machines running Fedora 24 without "systemd-networkd" and to be honest just because you hate systemd that much that you don't look how to configure things don#t mean you are forced to anything * nobody forces you to use systemd-networkd * "systemd makes /etc *not* readonly and you pretended that like a fact - the opposite is true since enable or disable services as well overrides are using files and symlinks in /etc * "systemd-resolved with ProtectSystem=full" is a completly different story than "mounting /etc readonly" and if you would be interested you would be able to clone "systemd-networkd.service" below /etc/systemd/system, just remove the offending line - something you can't do with other init systems that way> Lets be honest, what ever software I use, it shouldn't force me to > change how I set common things like /etc/resolv.conf.it don't force you - you can use "network.service" unchanged and just type "systemctl disable systemd-networkd.service; systemctl mask systemd-networkd.service"> This is getting out of hand and really has nothing to do with Samba, so > I suggest we agree to disagreeit's not about agree or disagree - you just don't like systemd, hence you did not look close how it works, that's fine, but then don't talk about things you haven't a clue because you are not interested in them -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
